She rolls her eyes, and I realize it’s a habit for her. “That’s what happens when you meet someone new. You shake their hand.” My sassy dream girl makes a show of taking my hand and giving it a shake.

I want to both spank her ass red and kiss her until she forgets everyone except me. Since neither is acceptable right now, I lean over and whisper next to her ear, “Keep it up, Candy, and everyone at this party will get a show when I spank your ass.”

Jaxson walks up out of nowhere and hisses at me, “What the fuck has gotten into you tonight?”

“Her,” I tell him without breaking eye contact with Candy. “She’s turned me into a goddamn caveman.”

“Well, tone that shit down unless you want every tabloid in the country to have a video of you acting like a lovesick moron. I’d bet my last dollar that there are several people recording this right now.”

“I am a lovesick moron.” Both Candy and Jaxon gasp at my words. “So, I don’t really give a fuck what ends up in the tabloids. Just make sure they spell her name right.” Yesterday, I didn’t even know my dream girl existed, but now, I can’t picture my life without her.

Several people stop us to congratulate me on the end of the tour, and I do my best to respond appropriately, but I’d much rather disappear with my girl. “What are your plans now that the tour is over?” one nosy asshole asks.

“I’m sure my girl will keep me busy,” is all I give him.

When the party starts to wind down, Raven and Roman come over. “We’re heading back to our hotel,” Raven tells Candy. “Do you want to ride back with us?” Oh, hell fucking no. My girl isn’t leaving without me.

“I’ll make sure she gets back when she’s ready.” I step in and glare at Raven. I don’t motherfucking care if she controls our recording contract and therefore the band’s immediate future; nothing is going to come between me and Candy.

“Don’t worry about me.” Candy cuts in and stares at her friend. “I can take care of myself.”

We manage to escape soon after Raven and Roman leave, and I take Candy straight to my suite. When Ryan attempts to step into the room, I turn to him. “I don’t need you anymore tonight.”

He gives me a little salute before heading to his room down the hall.

“Do you really need a bodyguard?” Candy turns and asks.

“No.” I follow her over to the sofa and sit next to her. “But the record company insists we have them around for the tour.”

“I see.”

A long silence surrounds us while I debate how to handle this situation. While my cock wants me to hurry up and seal the deal, my heart is urging me to proceed cautiously.

She sits back and bites her bottom lip before blurting out, “Are you saying all this stuff just to get me into bed?”

“No.” I don’t know how to explain it to her since I don’t understand it myself, but I do know I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her forever. “I’m stumbling through whatever this is, trying to show you how I feel.” Taking a deep breath, I go all in. “I came out on that stage tonight and took one look at you and knew I was a goner.” Her eyes widen as I continue. “You bowled me over and stole my heart all in one fucking second.”

Candy stares at me silently for several moments, and I start to wonder if I’ve made a big mistake. I should’ve listened to the goddamn voice in the back of my mind telling me to slow the fuck down.

I’m about to backtrack when she takes a deep breath and smiles. “I kinda feel the same way.”

It’s better than nothing, but I’m not willing to settle for just kinda. “Kinda?”

She shrugs adorably, and those adorable dimples appear. “Kinda probably.”

“I’ll take it for now.” I kiss her soft lips. “Until I can convince you to fall head over heels in love with me.”

It’s my moment of truth. Do I jump in with both feet and risk the heartache, or do I play it safe?

I already know the answer to that question. Of course, I’m going to take the chance on something magical coming from this. I’ve always said I’d hold out for the fairytale, and here’s the chance for me to see if this pull between us is real.

“I bet you can find a way to persuade me.” My decision is insanely easy. His eyes widen as I straddle his lap. “Maybe we could continue what we started in the limousine.”

“Fuck, I’m so goddamn lucky.” We’re both insanely lucky. In my heart, I suddenly know without a doubt that our crazy-fast connection is just right. There’s no other word for it, and I’m ready to risk it all and hold on for the wild ride.
