“Would you be okay if another man helped her shower?” I glanced at the bathroom door.
“Fuck no.”
“Then you understand the fury I’m experiencing?”
“Yes.”
“Good, now move out of the way.”
“Not happening.”
“Listen, motherfucker, I will rip you to pieces.” I raised my fist to his face and winced.Goddamn ribs!
“What’s going on?” Storm asked from behind me.
“Ella is showering, and Tomcat’s helping,” Boxer so helpfully replied.
“Jesus fuck,” Storm growled.
“He won’t let me kill Tomcat.” I turned toward Storm. “Would you let something like this go on with your wife?”
“With my Angel? Fuck no.” He shook his head, his lips pressed thin.
“Then have your man move.”
Storm looked at Boxer, then me, then back at Boxer.
“What’s the problem, Prez?” I asked.
“Believe me. I’m on your side, but if Boxer is guarding your woman because she asked him to, it’s safer not to cross him.”
Boxer tilted his head and grinned.
“Anyway, I came to tell you Grizzly still has eyes on your son. Tami is heading toward North Dakota. My cousins—ourcousins—will intercept the cage as soon as it crosses the border, in about fifteen minutes.”
“Fargo is a couple of hours north of the border. How’d they get there so fast?”
“They’re pilots.”
“Right.” I’d forgotten. The shower turned off. “Ella? Our boy will be home soon.”
The door flew open, and she stepped out, wrapped in a towel. “They found him?”
“Yes, baby.” I took a step toward her. “Please, Ella.”
“Don’t talk to me. I can’t deal with you right now.” She went to her bedroom. “Tomcat?”
“Yeah?” He stepped out of the bathroom…fully dressed. I’d never been more relieved. “Sorry, man.”
I turned on my heel and went back outside for fresh air.
“Let’s just focus on getting your son back,” Storm said. “Once Ella has her child, she’ll be able to think more clearly, but she might need space. Why is she so pissed at you anyway?”
“Fucking Irisah, that’s why.”
“Irisah? Red hair, mouthy, and about five foot five?”
“Yes, how’d you know?”
