“He had no way of knowing I’d have an accident. But he was concerned about when I could go back up.” She held up her hand to stave off an argument. “I told him it wouldn’t be until next week. I also let him know I wouldn’t be going alone.”

Tevryn chuckled. “I don’t suppose that made him too happy.”

“That would be correct, but he didn’t bring up the NDA again.”

“Good. I’m not sure I’d be willing to sign it. There’s something about the guy that just rankles. I don’t think he’s telling you, or anyone else, the whole truth. I may change the focus of my article, but,” he said, laying his fingers on her lips before she could speak, “I will not publish anything that I don’t show you first. You can decide whether it ever sees the light of day. Fair?”

“Fair. Thanks for understanding. This project means a lot to me on a myriad of levels.”

“I know, baby. I was planning to take the day off and just hang out here with you. I thought maybe we could watch a movie or television—just something low-key and relaxing.”

“I don’t want to keep you from your work.”

“You are far more important to me than my job.”

“In that case, I’d love the company, but the doctor said no sexual activity for at least seventy-two hours.”

“Yes, the nurse made sure I knew that as well.”

“Was it the slutty blonde?” He nodded. “I’ll bet she offered to take care of all your needs while I recover and afterwards.”

Tevryn chuckled. “Now who’s being possessive and territorial?”

“What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. Lucy left food and snacks.”

Tevryn got them arranged comfortably on the sofa, and they decided to stream a series they both liked. He nixed anything that had to do with dragons or romantic comedy. She ruled out sports or westerns. In the end, they decided high fantasy was the order of the day. Once she was relaxed, Tevryn turned on his seductive charm. They might not be able to have sex, but he meant to remind her that they belonged together and how very responsive she was to his affectionate attention.

“You know what’s nice about this?” she asked dreamily.

“I can think of several things; you go first.”

“It’s kind of like being on a date at the movies, only I didn’t have to get dressed up, and we can pause the show any time we want. What do you like?”

“That I’m here with you. That you are soft and warm in my arms and that when I lean down to kiss you, there’s no old biddy telling me I can’t.”

He tipped her chin up and brought his mouth down on hers gently until he felt her respond and open her mouth to him. He slipped his tongue inside, sliding it along hers and making her moan. Her nipples tented the t-shirt she had on, and he could smell her arousal. She reached over to lay her hand on his fly, feeling the stiffened cock throbbing behind it.

When he lifted his head, she gazed into his eyes and whispered, “What are you doing to me?”

“Not nearly as much as I want to or intend to after your physician gives you the all-clear for sex.”

With that, he turned her around, placing her hands in her lap and letting her rest against him, relaxing until he could feel her fall asleep. Easing out from behind her, he quickly placed the bugs where he thought they would do him the most good and downloaded the tracking app onto her phone. He would try and do the same with Lucy’s phone when she got home.

He wriggled back underneath her and wondered how the hell he was ever going to tell her he was a dragon?

Chapter 12

Delaney

She should have felt frustrated and antsy, but she didn’t. Oh, it wasn’t that she didn’t want him, wasn’t incredibly aroused, and developing feelings for him that were far deeper than mere lust. There was something about the way Tevryn talked to her, included her in his thinking, put her career on the same level as his own, and appeared to value transparency and honesty in the same way she did, that made her trust him and feel safe.

Delaney wasn’t even embarrassed that she’d fallen asleep, leaning on him, and she rather liked the way his cock was firm and throbbing behind her. It reminded her that she wasn’t the only one doing without.

For the remainder of the day, Tevryn took care of her, making sure she had enough to eat and drink and waiting on her hand and foot. In the middle of the afternoon, he had groceries delivered that she couldn’t remember him ordering and proceeded to put together a pot roast that was now filling the house with the most amazing aroma.

Lucy joined them a little after six. “Oh my god. He can cook?”

“How do you know it wasn’t Delaney?”
