“I can’t believe I’m in the same house as a serial dessert assassin.”

The twins let out a chuckle at his comment.

“I have a knack for the simple things in life.” I have no shame toward my sweet tooth.

Next thing I know, Xavier’s hands are put together, his eyes close, and he chants out loud, “Deus, eu lhe juro que a ajudarei em seu gosto pelo deserto. Amém.” His native tongue rolls off his lips. It makes him ten times hotter.

I only catch God, dessert, and amen. Everything else is unknown to me.

“Hey, remember the English rule!” Cleo scolds.

“Right, sorry, Sparkles.” He chuckles in response.

“Where are you from?” Chanel asks.

“São Paulo, Brazil.” Pride drips off his features.

“I’ve always wanted to go to Brazil, but Vio won’t take me,” Cleo says.

“It’s amazing. I’ll take you next year during carnival; it’s the one thing everyone has to experience.” He pauses. “You too, Blondie, don’t think I would take your sister anywhere without you. You will always be my number one,” he coos as if I’m jealous. I roll my eyes and continue eating. As I’m enjoying the laughter that Xavier emits, I realize that I’ve never seen my sisters laugh as much as they do around someone before today.

Chapter10

Violetta

“Ifeel like I’m going to explode,” Xavier says after eating his entire plate of food.

“I mean, the amount of calories on that plate is something else,” Cleo tells him with a laugh.

“I bet it was like thousands of calories.” He snorts in response.

“It’s actually two thousand six hundred and fifty calories,” Cleo says, dumbfounding me.

“Sparkles, how do you know that?” he questions.

“I mean, eggs those sizes are eighty calories each. You scooped three cups, which is equivalent to four eggs in each cup. Four times three is twelve, so eighty times twelve is nine hundred and sixty. You add that with the ten pieces of bacon you ate, which is forty-five calories each, which adds up to one thousand four hundred calories including the eggs. Then one piece of French toast is one hundred and twenty-five calories each. Times that by five; you have one thousand two hundred and fifty calories. Altogether, it’s two thousand six hundred and fifty,” she says.

“How do you know that off the top of your head?” I don’t pry even though her awareness of food is worrying, considering her past struggles with eating.

She stiffens. “Just an old party trick.” She pauses and then quickly changes the subject in discomfort. “Anyways, how about we do something today?” Cleo exclaims.

“Blondie needs to loosen up a little bit,” he agrees and then pats me on the back.

“I have to work out after this. I don’t think we’ll have time after the sun goes down.” My tone is apologetic.

“I woke up at eleven o’clock to just stay in the house. Boring,” Cleo says out loud, mimicking a yawn.

“I’m supposed to work out as well, but I have decided I’m not going to.” He pauses. “We are both professional athletes, which means we need a break,” Xavier says.

“That makes no sense. The fact that we are professional athletes implies that we have to work out daily. It’s our job.” If he thinks I’m not going to work out because of an excursion, he’s wrong.

“When was your last rest day?” Xavier stands up from his chair as he asks the question, grabbing all our plates.

“Umm.” I look up at the ceiling, trying to think of the last time I didn’t work out, but nothing is showing up in my brain. “Never.”

“What?!” His face is shocked, and his eyes are wide.

I almost let out a laugh because of his expression.
