“A few minutes at most.”

Even though the house was silent, for all I knew, Franco had already come and left, and Hunter might be lying somewhere in here, bleeding out.

I was not about to let him die, not if he was within my grasp by staying.

“I’m going to search the house, so you’d better tell your cop to hurry.”

CHAPTER66

Hunter

Ithought I knew rage, but oh, how wrong I was.

This room’s stone walls would provide optimal sound to echo his screams, and the musty scent of damp rock would soon be overshadowed by the iron scent of his blood. The cold air underground would be a welcome relief to my body’s heat once I got started. Right now, that air drifted over my skin with the icy promise of his demise.

As I stared at the asshole before me, it was as though my fire of anger became so hot, it could incinerate everything in its path.

And, yes, I would incinerate him.

This man deserved a fate worse than death after what he did to Luna.

I clenched my fists and looked over his body, trying to decide how I would begin. I would break every single bone in his body, one by one. I would avoid all major arteries so he wouldn’t bleed out too quickly, and I would have to space his pain out so he wouldn’t die from shock.

He laid hands on Luna. For that, he’d lose both of his.

He said vile things to her. For that, he’d lose his tongue.

And then…then the real fun would begin. Between breaking each bone—snapping them with my bare hands or a hammer—I’d cut pieces of his flesh off. Inch by inch.

I’d start with sensitive areas, and if he lost consciousness, I would bring him back so I could continue.

Whatever remnants of control I’d had were obliterated. The desire to be cautious was wiped out, too.

The only thing that existed now was me and my villain, staring at the devil himself.

I’m going to enjoy every second of what I’m about to do.

CHAPTER67

Hunter

“Wake up, you piece of shit.”

When I ripped the duct tape off his mouth, Franco Hopkins opened his swollen eyes. It took a few seconds of blinking before his gaze apparently came into focus, his eyes widening in shock.

Yeah, how does it feel, you asshole? Having someone abduct you like you did Luna.

Did he recognize me? Remember me from the trial? Because I was no longer wearing my Vigilante mask. I’d tucked it with my other uniform, if you will, in the far corner behind him.

There was no need to be concerned about him figuring out my identity; he would never live to reveal my secret. And as an added bonus, he’d get to see the pleasure on my face from extracting my own brand of justice as he died a slow, painful death.

Franco’s gaze darted around the room, stilling when he saw all the weapons along the far wall.

This son of a bitch thought he had it all figured out with a team of men that hunted Luna down with the intent to slaughter her. He thought he could torture her for information she did not have, but oh, how the tables had turned; he wasn’t the predator.

He was the prey.

“You’rethe Vigilante!” Franco spat, undoubtedly remembering it was the Vigilante who’d saved Luna. And now here I stood.
