“Come here,” he said gruffly, tugging Sam into his lap.

She went, wrapping her arms around his shoulders and holding him tight.

“Thank you,” he rasped, and she nodded, kissing his temple softly. “I’m sorry.”

“There’s nothing to be sorry for,” Sam said, her heart fluttering with relief.

“Stay with me,” Aero said, pressing his forehead to hers.

“Are you sure?”

“Yes. I’m gonna try,” Aero said. “If I have a nightmare…”

Sam shook her head. “We’ll handle it.”

Aero smiled hesitantly. “You’re something else.”

Sam laughed. “Thanks.”

Aero kissed her softly, twining his fingers with hers. Sam sighed, melting against him.

“Let’s go to bed,” he said, pressing a kiss to her forehead. He wasn’t tired; he just wanted to hold her, to be close to her, to feel her warmth beside him in his usually empty bed.

Sam stood from his lap and kicked off her shoes.

Aero rose from the bed, walked to his dresser, and pulled something out, handing it to her.

“Here, sleep in this,” he said, hoping she would take it.

Sam looked down at the shirt he gave her. It was gray, soft, and well-worn, with Warrior Security Services printed on it. She smiled.

Pulling her shirt off and shimmying out of her yoga pants, Sam put the shirt on and looked down, smoothing her hands over the fabric.

Aero gawked.

Because Sam was so petite and Aero was so large, the shirt bagged on her and brushed her mid-thigh. She looked incredible.

Reaching under the shirt, she unclasped her bra, slipped her arms from the straps, and pulled the whole thing out of the sleeve of the shirt. He chuckled, and she cocked a brow.

“What?” she asked, tossing her bra on top of her clothes.

He shook his head and smiled. “That was like magic.”

Sam tossed her head back and laughed, the tension from before leaving the room as quickly as it came.

Aero pulled down the covers on the bed, and she climbed in. He shucked his jeans and socks, then his shirt. Sam watched him, lying on her side with a hand tucked under her cheek, her hazel eyes soft and tender.

She sighed dreamily. “You should be on a calendar.”

Aero cocked his head to the side as her cheeks heated, realizing she had spoken aloud.

“Sorry,” Sam whispered, roving her gaze over him. He was beautiful, with tan skin and taut muscles.

“It’s okay,” Aero said, feeling confident and sexy under her gaze. Women didn’t look at him that way, or at least he never noticed it. But knowing Sam thought he was attractive—attractive enough to be hung up on a wall—made his chest swell with pride.

“Come here,” she said, holding up the edge of the blanket.

He went, slipping under the covers and immediately gathering her to his chest.
