“Because I won’t be able to wait to get you home and fuck you in those heals,” he reminded.

“Well, that sounds like a good reason to call it an early night,” she said. He helped her up into his pickup truck and waited for her to buckle in. He wasn’t going to take any chances with her, not ever. She was his now and that meant that he’d be taking care of Trixie, even when she rolled her eyes at him because she thought that he was being “Extra” as she liked to say.

Blade leaned in to gently kiss her lips before shutting her door to walk around to get into the driver’s seat. “Are you sure that this is a good idea?” she asked. He hated that she seemed to worry about everything now that Bruce was in her life. He remembered her as a carefree girl who didn’t worry about anyone or anything. But now, she was different. She worried about Wren, checking in on her a few times a day, and she worried about him, not that Blade needed her to do that.

“I won’t let anyone get to you, honey,” he promised. She nodded and he reached across the console to take her hand into his.

“I like it when you hold my hand, Blade,” she admitted.

“I love it that you let me hold your hand, honey,” Blade said. He liked everything about her and having Trixie in his space felt right. After their first night together, putting up the tree, he moved her into his room and didn’t let her back out for a few days. He loved having her in his bed and there was no way that he’d give that up now. Whether or not she knew it yet, Trixie belonged to him, and he wasn’t about to let her go.

Waking up with Trixie in his arms, on Christmas morning, felt right to him. All he wanted to do was spend the day in bed with her, but his sister had other ideas. She had called him five times since sunrise, and he knew that Wren wasn’t going to give up until he finally answered the phone. So, Blade reluctantly got up and showered with Trixie to get ready to go over to Yonkers’s place so that they could all spend Christmas together.

“Are you sure that it’s safe to go out tonight?” Trixie asked. It was the third time that she had asked him that same question.

“I know that you’re worried about Bruce finding us, but I’ve already taken every precaution to keep you and Wren safe. We’re meeting at Yonkers’s place, and I know that he has great security since I was the one to install it. He’s going to sneak us in through the back and we’ll be fine. Promise. Besides, it’s Christmas and I’ve always spent the day with Wren.” He knew that Trixie did too. Usually, by the time Trixie came over to see Wren, Blade would make some excuse to skip out, but this year, things would be different. This year, he'd have both women that he loved with him on Christmas. Tonight, he planned on giving Trixie his present. He was going to tell her that he loved her and then, he planned on giving her his mother’s engagement ring. She had left it to him before she passed on and told him to find a good girl to marry. He had, but now, Blade hoped that Trixie felt the same way about him as he did her. She was the best girl he had ever known, and not spending the rest of his life with her wasn’t an option for him.

“Okay, if you’re sure,” Trixie said. He reached across the seat and pulled her hand into his own, stopping her from fidgeting.

“I’m more than sure,” he promised. “I won’t let anyone, or anything touch you again, honey.”

“Blade,” she whispered, “after everything we’ve been through, I believe you.” She was right, they had been through a lot over the past couple of weeks, but they worked through all their problems and came out stronger for it.

He smiled and squeezed her hand into his own. “So, you excited to see Wren?” he asked. Trixie had a backseat full of presents to show Wren just how excited she was about spending Christmas with her.

She looked into the back of his truck and back at him. “I think I might have gone a little bit overboard with buying presents this year.”

“Yeah, you did,” he said. He knew that about half of the gifts in the backseat were for him. Trixie had been busy shopping over the past week, but he didn’t mind. It seemed to keep her mind off her stalker and for once, she actually seemed happy. She begged him to open gifts in the morning when they woke up, but he told her that he wanted to give her his present in front of his sister. He knew that Wren would want to be there when he asked her best friend to marry him. In fact, his little sister might kill him if she wasn’t there to witness the two of them get engaged.

They pulled around back and down the alley, to hide his truck in Yonkers’s garage, as planned. The two of them had thought through everything to keep Wren and Trixie safe. “You ready?” he asked.

“Yep, but what about the presents?” she asked.

“I’ll bring them in after I get you in safely. You can visit with Wren while I lug all that crap in from the backseat.”

“It’s not crap,” she insisted. “In fact, some of it is for you.”

“I noticed when you had me load it into the truck. You really didn’t have to get me anything,” he insisted.

“Well, I couldn’t do that now, could I? Besides, I know you got me something too,” she whispered. “I saw you slip something into your jacket pocket.” She was right, he had slipped something into his jacket pocket—the ring box that held his mother’s ring. He just hoped like hell that she liked it since it was all that he got her.

“You’re so nosey,” he teased, kissing the tip of her nose. “Now, let’s go in before my sister has a coronary and comes to find us.”

They got to the back door to find Wren standing there like a little kid, waiting for them to show up. “I’ve been waiting all day for you guys to get here,” she spat.

“Well, we had plans,” Blade said, bobbing his eyebrows at Trixie. Wren made a noise like she was going to throw up and Yonkers nearly did a spit take with the sip of beer that he had taken.

“I could use one of those,” Blade said, nodding to Yonkers’s beer. He grabbed one from the refrigerator and tossed it to Blade.

“Merry Christmas, man,” Yonkers said.

“Merry Christmas. I’m going to down this and then, I need to run to the garage to bring in the presents,” Blade said.

“I’d offer to help, but I already know the answer. I’ll stay here and keep an eye on things,” Yonkers said.

Wren’s little frustrated growl filled the kitchen. “I’m not a child and I don’t need to be babysat,” she said.
