“You,” he says, out of breath pulling his pants up, “and me, Spirit Halloween for a costume.”

“I don't know,” I say, throwing my shirt on over sticky skin. “Do they make costumes big enough?”

He rolls his eyes. “Like a national store has never seen someone who is 6'5” before.”I shrug, giving him a smirk. “Come on man, I’ll drive.”

I throw on more deodorant before walking over to the sink to run my hair under the water. He’s fully dressed and ready to go by the time I get back with damp hair.

“You’re going to drive my Jeep? You think that’s an enticing scenario?”

“We should also invite Taylor; she has a great fashion sense. Also, I heard you two fucking the other night.”

I can feel the heat rise to my cheeks. “Don’t say that so fucking loud,” I whisper-yell at him.

“So, it's true!”

“Yes. No. Come on, let's get out of here.”

He follows behind me, and I can feel his grin burning a hole in the back of my head. So fucking childish.

I let Levi drive the Jeep back to my place, only because I'm tired and dehydrated. He’s the only one I trust to drive my baby. He pulls up to the driveway faster than I’d like but whatever. We both get out and I run to the kitchen to down sports drinks stacked in the fridge.

Levi walks around the corner with Taylor by his side already. She looks incredibly adorable in a long sleeve dress and fluffy boots. Adorable? Who am I? I shake my head, looking away from her. “I told you I don't need a costume, Levi.”

“Of course, you do,” Taylor says, her voice all smoky and sexy. Why does she do this to me?

“I really don't.” I set down my second sports drink on the counter as I stare into her hazel eyes until I want to melt. She gives me an innocent smile with that one little dimple on her right cheek.

“I also need to get a mini fridge. Where does one buy a mini fridge?” She turns to Levi, who puts his hand to the short stubble on his chin and rubs it like some thought-provoking professor. God, why are they both so irritating?

“Like, any supermarket,” I say.

“Okay, let's go then,” she chirps.

“I'm driving!” Levi says.

“Oooh, fancy boy. I didn't know you could drive,” she says, to which he gives a fake blush and fans his face.

“Fancy fancy boy here, miss. Shall we go on an adventure?”

“Ugh. Let's just go,” I say.

Levi tosses my keys in his hands up and down as he guides us out the foyer and down the outside stairs to my car. I let Taylor take the front seat while I sit behind her. It’s weird sitting in the backseat of my own car. I'm not sure I've ever done this. I don't like it.

“Can we get smoothies first?” Taylor asks Levi.

He turns to her, his eyes wide. “Hell yeah, girl, smoothies.”

Taylor turns the radio on as he drives to the smoothie place. Levi and I get peanut butter protein smoothies and she gets a pink one.

“So, what are we thinking for Elijah’s costume?” Taylor says, directing her question to Levi as if I’m not right fucking here.

“I personally like period pieces. Have you seen Pride and Prejudice? What about Mr. Darcy?” Levi says. You’d think the man didn’t just come back from hockey practice with one of the best colleges in the country by the way he talks.

“Oooh, Mr. Darcy,” she giggles. “He does have the right demeanor.”

“Oh, yeah, I’d say so,” Levi agrees. Taylor turns around to look at me briefly.

“We’re doing something easy, okay? Nothing cringey,” I argue.
