“Hi,” I say.

“Darling,” Stephanie purrs, “you have to tell me where you got your dress.”

I look down at my 90’s button-up dress and white shirt underneath. “It was my mom’s, I’m not sure.”

“So, its vintage,” Olive says in between bites. The burger looks pretty good.

“Yeah, I guess it is.”

“You become more fascinating the more I get to know you,” Stephanie points at me with her plastic fork. Considering she knows nothing about me, I must be pretty damn interesting.

They both put their food down as the hockey players walk past us, Levi and Elijah in front of the pack.

“Hi, Levi,” Olive and Stephanie say in unison.

Levi cranes his neck from the moving group and gives them a big grin and a wave. He really is a cutie. Elijah glances my way. He shows off his arm tattoos in a t-shirt, and his thick hair is sprawled across his forehead. The rest of the players stand behind him, following him like he’s the alpha. If only they knew what a mommy’s boy he really is. I stick my tongue out at him. He rolls his ebony eyes.

They disperse at the grouping of tables behind us, and Elijah sits down with a pretty blonde who was eating her lunch. He wraps his arm around her shoulders while staring at me. Hard. I grind my teeth. Why the fuck should I care? She looks up at him and giggles, her cheeks turning red. I divert my attention to Olive and Stephanie, who are now fighting about who likes Levi more.

“You two should come hang out at my place today. You can meet King.”

“Who’s the King?” Olive says, finishing her last bite.

“King’s my snake.” I grab my phone and show them pictures of him I’ve taken on my socials. They get their phones out and add me.

“Adorable,” Stephanie says. I can tell Olive is a little afraid, but she hides it with a bright smile.

After my last class, I text the girls my address and they come over in the evening. Thankfully, Dad and Jessica aren’t home when they get there. When I go to show them the house, they say that they have already received the grand tour from Elijah.

“You didn’t tell me you’ve been here before,” I say, guiding them up to my room.

“We go to all the hockey players parties,” Stephanie says.

“No, we go to the ones Levi goes to,” Olive adds.

We walk into my room, and I introduce them to King. Stephanie opens the door and whisks him into her arms, wrapping him around her shoulders. Olive looks at her in awe.

“Sexy,” she says. Stephanie does a twirl, letting King check out the new human.

“We should all take pictures for your account, Taylor. You have, like, so many followers,” Stephanie suggests. “Got any cute lingerie?”

“You want to wear my lingerie?” I ask, sitting on the bed. I snap a picture of her with King and another with Olive behind her. They look cute together.

“We’re all girls,” Stephanie shrugs. “Or maybe I can get a pic with your sensuous glasses.”

“Sensuous,” Olive mimics, grabbing my frames from my face. The world turns blurry, but I can see enough to take more pics of them. Stephanie takes her shirt off and pulls off Olive’s oversized hot pink sweater. I turn on music from my bathroom speaker and the LED lights on the ceiling.

“Come on, Taylor, you should join us,” Stephanie says.

I feel a bit timid about taking my shirt off, also considering my bra is nowhere near as sexy as theirs are. I go to my closet and change into a lacy push up and pair it with a mini skirt. I saunter out to the music and they both cheer.

A couple hours later and they’re both gone. I put some normal clothes back on a post my pics to my O.F. account after sending them their pictures to post on socials. I’ve never had girlfriends I felt so comfortable around. It’s already looking like a nice change of pace from California.

TAYLOR CROMWELL

Aweek of studying passes and the campus is gearing up for what everyone is callingan epic hockey season. It seems like I’m the only one who truly couldn’t care less about the St. Paul Royals, but I don’t dare utter that to a single soul. Elijah’s been avoiding me at all costs, but we’ve been forced to run into each other a couple times at dinner and in the hallway. I’m just glad that I don’t have to see him at school outside of lunch. The first game of the season is only a couple days away, so I make a point to research who their opponent will be and buy their jersey if Stephanie insists I must go. I see they’re playing some ivy league school from Massachusetts; their team is called the Warriors, team colors red and black. I can work with that.
