"What the fuck is going on with you and Tal?" Harrick whispers into my ear.
He and I offered to do the dishes after dinner while the others relocated to the den.
"What do you mean?" I hand him a wet plate. "And why do I always have to wash? I'm the oldest, I should be drying."
"I'm not answering that until you answer my question."
"Would that question happen to be what the fuck is happening between Marsh and Tal?" Branum sneaks up behind us, scaring the bejesus out of me.
I almost drop the plate in my hands. "Fucking hell. Are you guys smoking something? Why do you both think that there's something going on with us?"
They take turns answering.
"Because when you guys showed up, you were standing so close you were practically holding hands." Branum kicks things off.
"Because of how he's been looking at you all night," Harrick adds.
"Because every time you get up or move, he tracks the movement."
"Because whenever you say something only semi-funny, he laughs like it's the funniest thing he's ever heard."
"Because he looks at you like the sun shines out of your ass."
"Okay, okay. Enough. I regret asking."
I hand Branum the last plate and pull out the plug, focusing on the water receding in the sink and not my two dumb brothers flanking me.
I drop my head. "We had sex last night."
The last of the water makes that loud gurgling sound, saving me from having to hear my brother's responses right away.
"And how do you feel about that?" Branum asks softly.
"I'm not sure." I look between them. "It's not just sex. We told each other some stuff last night, too."
"Major stuff?" Harrick hedges.
"Yeah. Super major stuff."
"Told ya," Harrick says, chuckling as he talks straight through me to Branum on my other side.
"What did you tell him?" I ask.
"That if Tal was ever going to give up his playboy ways, it'd be for you."
"Fuck. Really?"
Harrick nods. I turn and see Branum nodding, too.
"What makes you say that?"
"Just a feeling. And it's been confirmed tonight. That man is seriously in love with you."
I sigh. "Yeah. Now I just have to figure out if I'm in love with him."
