“Bro, can you care to explain what’s going on here?” Akshay asks as he shuffles on his feet while looking around in the fitness room.

There are a couple of people doing stretches against the railing as Akshay and I stand in the corner against the wall. A few women walk past us with their yoga mats, giving us a flirtatious stare. Don’t want to sound arrogant here, but the gospel truth is girls are attracted to us like bees to a honeypot.

“Guess they are warming up before the class?” Shrugging my shoulders, I reply, taking a sip of water from my bottle.

His head snaps over to me with a death glare. “I can see that, you jackass.” He clenches his teeth and continues to look straight into my eye, “If you would have asked me to accompany you to a lawyer’s office to draft a prenup agreement, it would have been totally acceptable, but you dragging me to a damn cross fitness class seems rather dubious. That too on a Sunday morning, when you very well know how much I hate to leave my bed before noon. What the hell is wrong with you? The last I checked, you too hate coming to the gym.”

That’s the truth. I have never been a fan of public gyms, especially not when it’s crowded. I usually prefer the early morning solitary pounding of the pavement during a jog to keep myself fit. Machines are not my best buddy. Yet, here I am, attending a freaking cross-fitness class on my day off. It’s Alisha whose attraction consumes me so much that my decisions are always blurred.

“There will be no prenup,” I grit my teeth, having no intention of divorcing my wife.

Akshay rolls his eyes. “You do realise this marriage is turning you into a pussy, which is annoying the hell out of me.”

“C’mon… don’t be such a baby. See the positive side as we are getting to have some fun instead of our normal routine.”

“Sorry to burst your bubble, but unlike you, my life is quite adventurous and entertaining. I don’t need to add this to my list,” he quips as he moves his fingers around.

“It’s just a class.”

“It’s a stupid class now, and the next thing you know you will be doing family gatherings, candlelight dinners, grocery shopping, and whatnot. To say nothing of how hard it will be for me to get a hold of you. It won’t be long before you forget your best friend.”

Shaking my head, I laugh. “That’s being a bit dramatic, don’t you think?”

“If you don’t believe me, then dig into the history of any married man.” Folding his hands over his chest, he gives a smug smile. “Now back to my earlier question. You didn’t answer me. Why are we here?”

I let out a huff. “It’s Alisha’s friend’s workshop, I thought it would be obligatory to volunteer,”I concede, not bothering to tell him how pissed I was when Misha mentioned that Alisha and her ex used to attend these stupid classes together. It took all my willpower not to lash out at her for mentioning his name not once but twice, even though she did it accidentally. I was so blinded by rage that I couldn’t see anything. All I wantedwas to wring the memories Alisha had with him out of her system somehow. I wanted to banish all the shadows of her past that were irritating me. I greedily wanted her complete attention, wanting all her thoughts to belong to me and only me. If that makes me a selfish bastard, I care a damn, butI would make sure that she doesn’t remember anyone, especially not that jerk, once we get married. Her thoughts will be filled with only me.

I have zero doubt on that, knowing that I always win.

He laughs as he shakes his head. “Now don’t get me wrong, but ‘gentleman’ is something which I would not use to describe your personality.”

“Fuck off, I rather not ruin my mood before meeting my fiancée.”

“Speaking of which, where is yourfiancée?”

I look around the room. This place is definitely spaced-out with a well-planned design that’s functional as well as aesthetically appealing, comprising wood and mirrors, not to mention all the latest machines it’s equipped with. And I must say, it is creating an ambience filled with energy and pleasant vibes.

“She is not yet here,” I say, my face screaming grouchiness. Alisha is just like her dad — stubborn. I wanted to pick her up but she asked me to meet her directly at the gym. The way she is keeping me at arm’s length does irk me.

Akshay doesn’t reply to me; instead, he gives a cute girl his killer smile and is rewarded with an adoring smile while I chuckle at his tactics. “Did you just happen to find yourself an eye candy?”

Waiving me off, he shakes his head. “Nah, not my type.”

I regard him with a questioning look. “And what’s your type?”

Before he can reply, thedoor pulls open andour eyes meet. Myjaws hit the floor. Her beauty blows me off. She is dressed in skin-tight leggings, showing her sexy curves teamed with a tank top. I swallow hard. No words come out, and I keep ogling at the woman who has complicated all my emotions and feelings, who refuses to leave my mind even for a single second. I have come to grips with this reality. Be it day or night, my thoughts are constantly about her. It’s like my mind has frozen on her.

“I think I might have found my dream girl,” Akshay says in a dreamy voice.

I look over at him, and see his mouth open, gawking at Alisha.

“She is my fiancée, you bastard,” I snap. Though I really can’t blame him. Alisha’s beauty radiates through the room and has that effect on everyone around who can’t help but be utterly bewitched by her.

“Good. That meansI am still allowed to try my luckbefore you marry her,” Akshay smirks as he walks towards Alisha.

I want to pull him back by his collar and most likely strangle him to death; instead, I find myself following him. Alisha sees us walking towards her, as she steps forward in our direction.

“Hey, I am Akshay, Ranveer’s best friend,” he introduces himself, stopping in front of her as he holds out his hand to her.
