Idroveinsilenceto the Chase ranch with Wyatt and William in the Ute with me. The tension was thick, and I knew we all wanted to talk about Anya though neither of us wanted to be the first to speak.

“The Chase boys want to get this done quickly. We get the shearing out of the way so we can start moving some money again.” I said and William nodded.

Wyatt glanced at William and narrowed his eyes.

“You slept with her.” He said, shocking me. I looked at my brother, expecting him to deny it but all I saw was pride and mischief.

“What are you going to do about it?” He challenged and I gripped the steering wheel.

“You slept with Anya?” I said through gritted teeth.

“Not exactly. I fucked her with my tongue and promised her a long courtship because the first time I sleep with her, I don’t want to be covered in hay.” He said pointedly to Wyatt.

“It wasn’t planned. She asked me and I am not a strong enough man to say no. But don’t think I am going to back down without a fight.” Wyatt said as I watched my brother grin.

“I know. I can share. I told her that too.” He replied and even Wyatt looked shocked and confused at that.

“Anya isn’t there for your amusement just to fuck. She deserves more than that.” I snarled and they both looked at me.

“We know. If you pulled your own head out of your ass, you would be trying to show her that too.” William said.

“Are you fucking kidding me right now? You want me to compete against the two of you for Anya’s hand like this is some kind of historical romance movie?” I said and William snorted.

“What’s the matter, afraid you will lose to me, big brother?” He teased and I didn’t feel like dignifying that with an answer. If I was honest, she was better off with him.

He may be involved in this business, but he was still innocent in many ways. He hadn’t gotten his hands dirty the way I had.

“Not that it matters. Why does she have to pick? She could have all of us.” He said and Wyatt shook his head.

“I don’t get it. That isn’t normal, Will. Things don’t work out like that.” Wyatt said with disbelief, and I nodded in agreement.

“Oh, come on old dogs can learn new tricks. It’s more normal these days. We would be like her stable. She can pick a stud that suits her needs at that moment.” He wagged his eyebrows as I pulled into the driveway of the Chase ranch.

“I won’t have this conversation with you,” I muttered as I got out, slamming the door.

“You’re just salty because I moved in first. She has a big enough heart for all of us and she needs more than one man to help piece it back together. We could do that. We could be the wall of love and affection she needs to feel safe again.” He said softly and I wondered what she had told him.

What did he know about her that I didn’t?

Wyatt nodded as if it was the sanest thing he had ever heard.

“I don’t know what happened, but I do know someone hurt her. She has a scar, a scar she refuses to talk about, and my bet is, a man put it there.” Wyatt growled.

I was about to ask what they meant when Robert Chase walked out of the house with a grim expression.

“Our usual shearers quit. Just up and quit on me.” He said with bitterness.

“Why?” I asked and he shrugged.

“Don’t know. They wouldn’t say. I have two thousand sheep that need shearing.” He said and I sighed.

“Guess we better get started then,” William said with a clap of his hands and a grin. The man was crazy, and his enthusiasm had me wanting to smack him.

This was going to be hell.
