“He’s sending some guys to follow Vaughn and help us out.”

“Not necessary,” I spit.

“Exactly what I said.”

“That motherfucker is mine. I’m not ending tonight without him knowing he’s been fucking with the wrong people.”

“Just get your girl. Let Christian sort out the rest,” Reese says, sitting forward and clamping his hand over my shoulder in support.

“He’s not just some guy from her past. He’s inserted himself into our lives. Into my life in order to get to her. This is personal.” Anger courses through my veins like acid. “I fucking trusted him with my life. He could have been selling me all kinds of shit these past few weeks.”

“Then maybe you should think yourself lucky and step away while you can.”

“Fuck that,” I scoff. “Is that what you wanted to do when that cunt took Tally? Step back and let it happen?”

“I didn’t have a fucking choice.”

“Yeah, well. I do. And I want to watch him fucking bleed for this. I don’t care if he knew her first, if he had her first. She’s mine now, and no one fucking touches what’s mine.”

“Let Dad handle him,” Oak tries to reason with me, but I’m past all rational thought.

“Not happening,” I state. “They’re still moving. You need to put your foot down,” I bark at Elliot.

He shoots me a glare, holding his speed where it is.

“If this were Abi you’d be going faster,” I mutter under my breath, although loud enough for him to hear.

His fingers tighten on the wheel until his knuckles are practically translucent, but he doesn’t respond.

He doesn’t need to.

We all know the truth.

“We’re ten minutes out,” I say as Elliot is forced to slow down when we hit the edge of Oxford city centre.

The dot hasn’t moved for a while and a quick Google search tells us that they’re at The Grand Hotel. That knowledge should reassure me. At least it’s not some abandoned building in the middle of nowhere he hopes he’ll never be found.

But here, he’s hiding in plain sight.

“Remember that this might not be leading us to her, just him,” Reese says.

“I know,” I growl, my grip on my phone so tight I wonder how the screen hasn’t cracked already. “Shit,” I gasp when I look down again. “He’s moving again.”

“We’re five minutes away,” Elliot states.

I keep my eyes glued to the screen. “He’s left the hotel.

“Shit,” Elliot hisses, doing what is probably the most reckless overtake I’ve ever witnessed him do.

“Fuck. Even Elliot is panicking,” Reese points out, clearly thinking the same as me.

“I’m not panicking. Just getting us there as fast as possible,” he states calmly.

“Sure thing,” Oak teases.

“He’s behind the hotel. I think he’s going down the backroads.”
