“Can I get the car down there?” Elliot asks.

“I don’t fucking know,” I snap.

“There’s the hotel,” Oak points.

I watch as our location aligns with Vaughn’s, my heart jumps into my throat as I stare at the building separating us.

“Those are Dad’s guys,” he says. “In the blacked-out SUVs.”

But I don’t look. I can’t. I’m too busy searching for any sight of him or my girl.Reese is right. She might not be here with him. But my gut tells me that she is.

She’s close and she needs me.

“Pull up down there. We’ll go on foot,” I demand when there seem to be no roads to take us behind the building.

“Are you sure that’s—”

“Just fucking do it,” I bark, my fingers already around the handle, ready to shove the door open and run.

“Fuck. Yeah, okay.”

I check the tracker one more time, and the second the car comes to a stop, I take off.

“Theo, wait,” Oak calls after me as footsteps pound behind me.

I don’t need to turn to know that all four of them are following. They might not agree with this plan, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have my back.

It takes us no more than twenty seconds to fly around the back of the building.

“Fuck, it’s dark,” I hiss, my legs pumping as we leave the illuminated street behind us.

“Up there,” Reese says, pointing ahead. “There’s a car.”

“You think it’s them?” I ask.

“Let’s go and fucking find out.”

RAINE

My heart races as I hurry out of the hotel and slip down the street.

I need to put as much distance between me and Vaughn as possible.

Shit.

Shit.

I did it.

I escaped.

Part of me almost feels bad for Stanley. Vaughn doesn’t like being outmanoeuvred, and losing me…

I shut down that line of thought.

I’m free.
