“Hi.”

“Sit.” A deep voice commands. “Both of you.”

“Fuck,” Theo murmurs, and I study his expression, ignoring Elliot’s eyes burning holes in the side of my face.

“What’s wrong?”

“I…”

“I said, sit.”

“Who the fuck made you boss?” I spit at Elliot, not appreciating his tone. Or the way he’s looking at me.

A flash of annoyance sparks in his eyes. “Figured it was time we talked about your little stunt.”

Shit.

Oh shit.

I glance up at Theo and the muscle in his jaw tics.

“I may have told him.”

“You… I see.”

“Look,” I say, pre-empting Elliot’s tirade. “It was nothing personal.”

“He knows that,” Theo mumbles from beside me. “You really have to do this now?”

“Sit. The. Fuck. Down.”

Like naughty children, we both take a seat. Tension ripples between us as Elliot watches me. “Do you have any idea how much damage you caused?”

“I heard paint jobs can be pretty expensive. Nothing you can’t afford though.”

Tally gasps but I see the twinkle of amusement in her eyes.

“And what about you?” He throws back. “Can you afford it?”

Something curdles inside me as I whisper, “You know I can’t.”

Elliot stares and stares. He stares so hard I want the ground to open up and swallow me whole.

I see it now; why everyone is so wary of him. There’s a darkness in him, just under the surface of his cool, collected façade.

“So,” he drawls. “I guess what we need to figure out is how you can repay me.”

“Whoa, Eaton. That’s not—”

“Theo,” I sigh. “It’s fine. He’s right, I owe him.”

I have no idea how I’ll ever repay them for the damage I caused. But I won’t cower either.

“What do you have in mind?” I ask.

“Sunshine…” Theo warns from beside me, throwing daggers at Elliot.

Elliot considers my words, his eyes darting between me and Theo before settling on me again. His icy cold composure slips a fraction, revealing a thin smile.
