I held one of the rungs and replied, “I saw you from over there”—with my drink, I pointed toward the VIP area—“and since we caught eyes, I thought I’d come over.”

She shook her head, her long hair falling into her face. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Her voice was soft, gentle. Like a singer whispering through a song.

But as for her not knowing what I was talking about, I called bullshit. We’d had a moment.

I was positive of that.

“Do you need something? Or do you have a question? I’m … confused.” She sounded surprised that I was still here.

A response that had me chuckling.

“Need something? No.” Even though that was a lie. “What I’d like is to buy you a drink.”

“I’m not thirsty.” She resumed her routine, eyes pointed everywhere but at me, her body finding the rhythm as though it had never paused.

What the fuck just happened?

Had she really just dismissed me? Like she couldn’t care less that I was standing here? That my presence didn’t matter?

Women didn’t do that to me.

They begged for my attention.

My stare.

My cock.

Damn, this one had a fire inside her.

“If you’re not thirsty, then what do you want?” I asked. “Something to eat? A towel to wipe away the sweat? Tell me …”

A smile graced her lips, and her eyes closed.

God fucking help me.

I’d seen thousands of women smile—celebrities, models, even influencers.

Some directly at me, others online, in magazines, and on TV.

But none were as smooth, engrossing, stunning, or elated as hers.

“I want to dance,” she said. “That’s what I want … and why I’m here.”

Would her answer be the same if I offered her a key to my room? The Range Rover that had been loaned to me while I lived here? The black card in my wallet?

Something told me it would be.

I needed to offer her something she couldn’t refuse.

“Can I join you?”

What came next was a laugh. A sound as light as her voice, as airy and fluid as the way she moved. “This stage is only built for one.”

“So?”

She nipped her lip with her teeth, like she was trying to hide a smile. “So, there’s not enough room for the both of us.”

What the hell is going on?
