He freezes, and before he gets a chance to think, it’s over and I’m moving away.

“The fuck was that?” he mutters as I move back to Mav and wrap his arm around my shoulder so I can help him back to the bedroom.

“Didn’t want you to feel left out.” I laugh as Mav pushes to his feet and shuffles toward the door, that Reid is still blocking.

He shakes his head, a small smile playing on his lips. It’s very un-Reid Harris-like, and I like it. Hell, I more than like it.

“Oh yeah, because that was the same.” He scoffs. “Let me,” he adds, stepping in to help take Mav’s weight.

Leaving the two of them to navigate this new development in their relationship, I turn back into the bathroom to clean up.

“Dove, you coming to join us?” JD calls a few minutes later when I’m rinsing the washcloth.

“Coming,” I call back.

“If only.” He scoffs. “Ow.”

“Behave,” Reid chastises.

“Children, children,” Mav mutters.

I can’t help but smile and my joy only grows when I step out of the bathroom to find the three of them all sitting on the bed with three massive pizzas in the middle of them.

It’s a sight I never thought I’d see, but one I’m already obsessed with.

JD surges forward, snagging a slice of pizza before anyone has a chance.

“You’re so fucking impatient. Wait for Alana,” Reid mutters, ever the host.

“She won’t care. She needs me fully fit and energized. Isn’t that right, Dove?” he calls as if I’m not standing right here.

“Sure is,” I agree, making them all pause and look up.

“Who’s the voyeur now?” Reid mutters.

“Just taking in the rare sight.”

“Get used to it,” JD says around a mouthful of food. “You’re not getting rid of us anytime soon.”

“Good,” I agree before stalking forward and claiming the spot on the bed they left for me.

I grab a slice of pizza and so does Mav, although he doesn’t look like he’s in total agreement with the idea of eating it.

I get it. I felt the same when Reid put those pancakes in front of me this morning. But we need this. And I don’t just mean the food.

“Is there anything you’re not good at?” Mav asks after he’s finally swallowed a mouthful.

“Fucking,” JD pipes up. “All the girls he’s ever had run away screaming.”

“Fuck off, they do not.”

“Do too. I feel it’s my duty to let my little dove know exactly what she’s getting herself into here.”

“I appreciate the warning but what exactly do you think I’m getting myself into here, Julian?” I tease, glancing up at Reid as I do.

He still hasn’t taken any pizza, he’s too busy sitting back and making sure everyone else is okay.

“Well, from what I walked in on earlier, I don’t think you’re getting into anything. My man here though, he was having very vivid thoughts about what he wanted to get in.”
