I knew Reid was planning and scheming. I know that look in his eye just as well as I know the moment he flips his switch into scary motherfucker mode. But I also knew not to ask. If he needed a sounding board, he always knows where I am; otherwise, I just let him get lost in his own head.

He’s organized some pretty impressive shit in our time. We’ve pulled off some insane jobs and achieved things I never thought we were capable of, but this… this whole thing was pure fucking genius.

I have never been prouder to call him my best friend, my brother, than this exact moment as I stand behind his dead father and he stands alongside his brothers, who all committed him to hell together.

It was pretty fucking poetic.

“You’re fucking kidding me,” someone announces from the doorway. “I missed it.”

“Yeah, well. Snooze you lose.”

“I wasn’t fucking snoozing, loser,” Aubrey sneers, walking deeper into the room to assess the damage. “Niiice,” she sings, taking in the state of her former lover.

My stomach rolls at the thought of Reid actively putting her in that position. But I guess she’s a professional.

“Let me guess,” she starts, stepping up to Reid’s side. “Yours was the shot straight between the eyes.”

“You know me too well,” Reid muses, keeping his eyes locked on his father’s dead body.

“And mine was right in the chest,” Devin announces happily. “I would say his heart, but I think we all know he didn’t possess one of those so…”

Ignoring Devin, Aubrey turns to Reid. “You did good tonight, Boss.”

He nods, accepting her praise.

“Downstairs is clear and?—”

Movement at the door distracts me from whatever Aubrey was going to say and I smile at Cash when he marches inside with Malakai Saint and his boys, Cooper and Remy, trailing behind. Cooper is covered in blood, but he doesn’t seem to be in pain, so I can only assume it’s not his.

I remain where I am, watching the scene play out before me as Kai fist-bumps Reid in celebration of a job well done.

The whole thing is like an out-of-body experience. We’ve been wanting this for so long that I was starting to think it would never happen, that Victor would give us the slip every time we got close.

But here we are.

We’ve done it.

Victor Harris’s reign of Harrow Creek is no longer.

And Reid Harris’s is about to begin.

Long live the motherfucking king.

“Everyone is clearing out,” Griff says the second he appears. He barely spares his brother-in-law a glance. Even dead, he doesn’t want to give him even a second of his time. I get it, I really fucking do. “Aubrey, you good to go?”

“Sure thing, old man,” she says before slipping from the room like a woman on a mission.

“Old… fucking pain in the ass.” Griff scoffs as Kai, Cooper, and Remy watch her go like bitches in heat.

“J,” Reid calls, dragging me from my musings. “We’re heading out. You good?”

“Yeah, bro. I’m seriously fucking good,” I tell him, moving from my spot and walking closer, finally getting a look at the mess they all made of Victor. “You?”

“Better than you could possibly believe,” he says with a genuine smile on his lips.

“You know what will make it even better?” I tease, wiggling my brows.

“Yeah, I’ve got a solid idea,” he confesses, wrapping his arm around my shoulder and tugging me toward the door, where the others are disappearing through. “Shall we go find her?” he asks before a single shot being fired puts us all on high alert again.
