“The fuck?” he barks as we spin around with our guns raised to find Griff standing before Victor, who now has an extra bullet impaled in him.

“That was for my sister, motherfucker,” he sneers before marching from the room without saying a word.

By the time we get outside, the majority of Reid’s army has disappeared. Honestly, I’ve no idea who most of them were, I’m not even sure if he does, but that doesn’t matter. All that does is that they turned up to show support to him as the leader of the Harrow Creek Hawks.

Holy fuck. My best friend is now the biggest, scariest motherfucker on the East Coast. Hell yeah, he is.

We join Devin, Ezra, and Ellis on the edge of the old hotel’s land and turn to look up at the building.

“Go for it, Aubs,” Reid says.

I turn to see where she is, but I quickly realize he’s talking through his earpiece because she isn’t here, but not a second later does the ground shake beneath our feet and what’s left of the building before us implodes.

Dust and dirt plume from the rubble covering all of us and making us cough, but it’s not enough to make anyone move.

Instead, we all stand there watching the final demise of Victor Harris and the men who gave their lives to support and protect him. Fucking morons.

“Yeah, baby!” Aubrey shouts through our ears.

“Psychotic fucking bitch,” I mutter under my breath.

“Heard that, Dempsey,” she warns.

“Bite me, Kendrick.”

“Nah, I’ll leave that to Alana.”

Just hearing her name makes my heart and balls ache.

We’ve already been gone too long. I bet she’s going out of her mind.

I glance at Mav and find a similar concerned look on his face.

“Shall we go home?” Reid asks after a few more seconds, his voice strong and steady, exactly what we need from our new leader.

“You got it,” Mav agrees, turning toward where we parked the car.

Everyone starts moving, but as I scan the faces, I realize someone is missing.

“Reid, where’s G?—“

“Gone,” he says, cutting me off.

“You serious?” I ask with a frown.

“Yep,” he says, popping the P as if it’s normal. I guess, in our life, it is fucking normal.

The trek back to the car is way less tense than the walk from it. I swear every muscle in my body has relaxed and the hope we’ve been clinging to for… well… years finally spreads through my veins.

The three of us pile into the car and simultaneously release long breaths. But none of us say anything as we just embrace the moment.

We did it.

We fucking did it.

“Should we call her? Let her know we’re safe and that we’re coming?” Mav asks.

“Or should we surprise her?” I counter. “There’s a very good chance she’s spent the night hanging out with Kristie.”
