Do I like this idea?

No. Not one fucking bit.

But I also can’t argue with her.

She needs this. To feel like she’s a part of it all. To find her place and pull her weight.

And while allowing her to walk into that place that is no doubt full of scumbags and perverts is terrifying, I also know that she can hold her own.

I trust her, and I trust Aubrey to keep her safe for us as well.

“Deadly,” Alana states, staring Reid dead in the eyes.

He’s really not fucking happy about this. Every muscle in his body is taut with tension. But as much as he might want to put his foot down and demand she stay here with us, I know he isn’t going to. He’s just really hoping he can change her mind. Something that also isn’t going to be happening.

We’re at a stalemate, and only one of them is going to cave.

Reid scrubs his hand down his face, rubbing at his rough jaw as he considers his options.

If he refuses to let her go, he’ll find himself with blue balls again for the foreseeable future, or he can allow her to do what she needs to do, knowing that we can watch every move from our position outside the club.

“You can’t be in charge all the time, Reid,” Aubrey says. “Sometimes, you need to let others do the job.”

“I know that,” he mutters. “I just… you’re more than capable of doing this yourself.”

“And so is Alana.”

Letting his head fall back, Reid stares up at the ceiling as his fists clench and unclench at his sides.

After a few seconds, he lowers his head again and glares right at Aubrey.

“If this goes wrong… If anything happens to her… I’m going to hold you personally responsible.”

She waves his concerns off with a flick of her hand. “Anyone would think you don’t trust me.”

Reid’s nostrils flare, but he wisely decides not to respond.

“Great,” she says, clapping her hands together and grinning at him like a maniac. “Are we ready to party then?”

“Pain in my fucking ass,” Reid mutters as I pull Alana into my arms and squeeze her tight.

“You’d better not get into any trouble tonight, little dove,” I tease.

“Yeah,” she muses. “We’ll see.”

“I’m going to need to try and get him drunk to deal with this, aren’t I?”

She chuckles. “I’d love to see him drunk and out of control, so yes, do that.”

“Christ,” I mutter as we head toward the elevator ready to set up camp in the town car, so we can experience the night Aubrey and Alana have ahead of them via a small screen in the back.

Aubrey first suggested we just stay here, but even without Alana heading inside that club, Reid refused point blank to be that far away.

I’m not sure if he’s expecting something to go wrong and wants to be there for backup or if he’s just hoping we’ll stumble across more than we’re bargaining for. Either way, he refused to back down until Aubrey agreed to us setting up our little surveillance hub just a little ways down the street.

With my arm locked around my dove’s waist, I lead her into the elevator that’s waiting for us, confident that the others are trailing behind.

I mean, there’s no way that Reid and Mav won’t be following Alana in this sinful little dress she’s wearing. I bet they’re fucking drooling too.
