“Good morning, baby. Happy Thanksgiving.” He turned and kissed her forehead.

“Happy Thanksgiving to you. The smells in this house are amazing.”

“I think that’s what woke me up. That turkey smells so good; my mom makes the best stuffing.”

“Stop. You’re making me hungry. Well, hungrier. I’m starving right now.”

“Breakfast is ready,” Jennifer called from the kitchen.

After eating a breakfast of eggs, bacon, pancakes, and coffee, Brett and JoJo headed for the barn to saddle the horses.

“Are you sure you want to go out in this?”

“I am, but if you don’t want to…” JoJo frowned at him.

“Oh, I do. I just want to make sure you do. It’s damn cold, darlin’.”

“I have a cowboy who will warm me when we return.” She smiled.

He stared at her and knew he’d love no one more.

“He’ll definitely do that if you return the favor.”

JoJo stood on her toes, kissed his lips, and smiled.

“Looking forward to it.”

Brett grinned. “Let’s go then. Take the scarf, JoJo.”

“I know.”

“Of course you do. You’re a country girl.”

Later, as everyone sat around the table, Brett’s mouth watered as he looked at the golden-brown turkey with overflowing stuffing. The mashed potatoes, yams, corn, and biscuits.

“JoJo, how did you and Brett meet?” Jade asked.

Brett smiled as he listened to JoJo tell his sister how they met. Jade and her husband, Phillip, sat opposite them, and Brett and Jade teased each other mercilessly. Jade laughed and looked at Brett.

“She’s keeping you on your toes, big brother.”

“Since I met her.” Brett chuckled.

“JoJo? What’s that come from?” Phillip asked before he put a forkful of yams in his mouth.

Brett looked at JoJo and raised his eyebrow. JoJo laughed and shook her head.

“I won’t tell.”

“Never?” Jade exclaimed.

“One day, maybe.”

Jennifer and Michael laughed. “Our own little mystery.”

“Tell me, when you get married, won’t they say your name then?” Jade sat back, folded her arms, and smirked.

JoJo shrugged. “I’ll bribe the priest.”
