“All right.” She stood, and he watched the water slide down her body. She reached for a towel and stepped out. After drying off, she hung up the towel, leaned down, kissed him, and left the room.

Brett put his hands on the tub’s sides, hoisted himself up, took a towel off the rack, and stepped onto the rug. He yawned as he dried off. Then he hung up the towel and entered the bedroom to see her under the sheet.

He strode to the other side, lifted the sheet, got beside her, and pulled her close. She put her head on his chest and her arm across his waist. He kissed her head, closed his eyes, and drifted off.

Chapter Eight

JoJo smiled as she and Brett drove to her parent’s place. She was a little nervous about introducing him to them, but she wanted them to meet.

“I hope I make a good impression.”

“Of course, you will.”

Brett chuckled. “As long as I don’t fall asleep. Another morning I didn’t get to sleep in.” He gave her a mock glare.

“I didn’t sleep in either, you know.”

“Because of you, neither of us got much sleep.”

“Are you complaining?”

“Do I look stupid to you?”

She laughed. “Nope, and my mama didn’t raise no fool.”

Brett grinned. “Right. Where to now?”

She gave him directions until they came to a split in the road, and she pointed to the left.

“Just follow this until you reach the house.”

Brett nodded, drove under the arch with Flynn Ranch scrolled in iron, and glanced at her.

“Where am I supposed to park?”

“Pull up beside the porch.”

“This is a nice spread.”

“I grew up on this ranch.”

“Yep, pure country girl.” Brett smiled at her and then frowned. “If this is a working ranch, why don’t you work here?”

“I did for a while. I worked on the books and around the ranch, but wanted to get my own job. When I saw the 'Help Wanted’ sign for the bakery, I wanted to work there. Sloane hired me on the spot, along with Courtney.” JoJo laughed. “Neither of us knew what we were doing.”

Brett chuckled. “I’m glad you work there. I might not have met you.”

“I’m sure we would have met somewhere.”

Brett lifted her hand to his lips and kissed it. “I hope so, because I can’t imagine not having you in my life.”

They exited the vehicle, and JoJo took his hand. She led him up the steps, knocked on the door, then opened it.

“Mom? Dad? We’re here.”

She smiled when her parents and brother entered the kitchen. They hugged her and then looked at Brett.

“Brett, these are my parents, Joseph and Joanna Flynn, and my brother, Liam.”
