Cee

It took all of my willpower not to call Mish on her honeymoon.

All of it.

But the second she came walking in the door, tanned skin glowing, I grabbed her hand and dragged her to the room I was occupying in her home.

“I missed you, too,” she giggled.

“Remember when you not-so-directly asked me if I was fucking Sergio?”

“Oh my God, are you?” Her eyes went wide.

“No.”

“Then what’s with the lead in?”

“Did you know he calls Wyatt every day?” I asked.

A knowing smile rose on her cheeks. “He reads him his bedtime story. It’s totally adorable.”

“How am I the last to know?” I shook my head. “Doesn’t matter. What matters is, the night of your wedding, I kissed him. And then the next day he took Wyatt out for waffles and came back and told me he’s in love with me.”

“Can we slow down here? Because I’m getting whiplash. You kissed him?” A small smile crept on her face.

“Yes.”

“Okay, why is this news?”

“He’s the first person I’ve kissed since Eli.” I toyed with the duvet to avoid meeting her gaze.

“Oh. Um, weren’t you two screwing around right after?” I heard the confusion in her voice.

“Yes. I absolutely used him as my own personal sex toy. But there was no kissing.”

“Like Pretty Woman?” Her head tilted as she processed.

I shrugged. “Yeah, sure. But I’m not a prostitute. I was just… not ready for intimacy.”

She lets out a chortle. “Of course. My mistake. Sex isn’t at all intimate,” she said, her voice laced with sarcasm. “So, now you’re ready. So, you kissed him, and he told you he loves you?”

“I was ready to kiss him. Only him. And then yes, the next day he said he fell in love with me.”

“And did you act like your sister and run full-tilt into the hills?”

“No.” I shook my head. “I was shocked, but um, kinda excited?”

“Shocked? Girl, I told you he was in love with you.”

“I didn’t believe you. Besides, even if I did, it’s a much bigger deal that he actually said it to me.”

“Agreed. Then what?”

“We grabbed Wyatt, and he followed us back here. I took a nap, and they played in the yard.”

She motioned for me to tell her more. “It’s been two weeks. There has to be more to it than that.”
