Dagon smiled at me. It was a sad smile, but it was real. “I promise you this is what she would want. You’re her daughter—her blood. You’re a born Goddess. I’ll be at your side every step of the way.”

“As will I,” Abaddon added. “I believe in you, Cecily.”

I leaned in and gently kissed my mother’s forehead. “I’m not sure I believe in me.”

Abaddon squatted down next to me. “How about I believe in you enough for both of us?”

I gave him a weak smile and nodded.

Fate was set. Destiny was mine to mold. Shit. Life had just taken a U-turn into Hell. Literally.

Lilith’s body began to glow and shimmer. Dagon gasped. Abaddon was speechless and open-mouthed.

“What’s wrong?” I asked, as the delicate magic swirled around my mother and me.

Dagon shook his head. He was frantic. “I don’t know what’s happening.”

I held my mother closer, trying to keep her from disappearing. The enchantment continued to dance around us as Lilith’s broken body began to fade away. In a pop of iridescent silver mist, she was gone.

I was frozen to the spot.

“What the Hell?” Abaddon questioned in a perplexed and alarmed tone.

“I truly don’t know,” Dagon said as he began pacing erratically. “She should have turned to dust, even then, it shouldn’t have been this fast. There should’ve been time for me to return her body to the Darkness.”

My hackles rose. “Is it Pandora? Did she steal my mother’s body?”

Abaddon growled.

Dagon held up a hand. “I don’t believe Pandora had anything to do with this. It was far too peaceful.”

Glancing down at where my mother used to be, I felt the tears come on again. I was going to be crying for a while. “What do we do?” I asked, sniffling.

“We get out of here,” Abaddon said. “We’re in Pandora’s territory.”

“And what about her? She’s supposed to be in time-out,” I reminded the men.

“The Grim Reaper and the Keeper of Fate are on it,” Dagon informed me. “We shall aid them as necessary.”

“Her box is real,” I told them.

Both men’s brows shot up.

“Do you know where it is?” Abaddon asked.

“No,” I told him. “But you’d better believe I’m going to find it.”

“I’ve already told you I believe in you,” he said. “I have no doubt you’ll find Pandora’s box. And I’ll be at your side when you do.”

I nodded. Exhaustion made me feel dizzy. There was nothing left here that I cared about except Abaddon and Dagon. “It’s time to go. I need to see Man-mom.”

“As you wish, Goddess Cecily,” Dagon said with another bow of respect.

The bowing was going to take some getting used to. Honestly, I liked the title ‘Bitch Goddess Cecily’ better, but would save that for another conversation. I didn’t see it going over well.

Abaddon’s cell phone rang. I was surprised it worked, but the shitty whore was gone. Her spells must have left with her.

He glanced down at it and tilted his head in surprise. “It’s your father,” he said, handing me his phone.
