“Looks like we have a winner here,” the young lady working the booth says. “Pick a prize.”

I look at the options before turning to Maisey, “Which one do you like?”

Maisey points to a small stuffed duck. The lady hands me the duck and I give it to Maisey.

“Look Daddy! Ms. Cam won me a duck!” Maisey says excitedly to her father.

Parker smiled brightly at us, “What are you going to name the little guy?”

“Ducky,” Maisey says proudly.

Parker and I share a look before breaking out into a fit of giggles as Maisey just stares at us with a grin.

“I want to ride the ferris wheel!” Maisey shouts.

We walk towards the ferris wheel and I stare up at it with fear. I have never been a fan of heights and I have never been on a ferris wheel before. Just the thought of being so high up has my stomach in knots. It is not natural for human beings to be in the air.

“Are you scared?” Parker whispers into my ear as Maisey runs ahead of us.

I shrug as I swallow. I am not sure if it is fear that I feel or just unease.

Parker throws an arm around my shoulder as he pulls me close. “I’ll be with you the whole time. There is no need to be scared.”

I melt into his arm, being in his embrace feels like home.

“Thank you,” I mutter and Parker beams down at me.

We make it to the ferris wheel and Maisey is bouncing up and down on her toes.

“Hurry!” Maisey calls out as she runs up the steps and takes a seat.

Parker and I sit on either side of Maisey and the three of us fit perfectly.

The man running the ferris wheel puts the bar down in front of us and we start moving.

My body tightens as we move backwards instead of forwards. My guts feel like they are going to combust until I feel a small hand grabbing my own.

“It’s going to be okay Ms. Cam,” Maisey says as she squeezes my hand.

Both of the Madison’s are here for me and it comforts me to know that. I gaze out in front of me as we reach the top.

The ferris wheel stops and I am in awe of the sight in front of me.

The setting sun is brighter up here and it is as if I can see all of New York City. The skyline is to die for and each building is so unique. I never thought I would see New York City in this way before but I am glad I got on the ferris wheel, even if my palms are still sweaty.

“Wow,” I say.

“So pretty,” Maisey says as she leans forward, rocking us.

I stiffen up again as my eyes slam shut as we rock forward.

“Deep breaths, Cam,” I hear Parker say as he puts his arm around me again.

I slowly breathe in and out before opening my eyes and looking toward Parker.

His gaze is strictly on me. He shoots me a smile and a grin breaks out on my own face.

“Are you okay?” Parker asks me.
