What is happening?

Cam’s mouth falls open in a scream as Maisey yells out, “Daddy!”

I’m on the ground now in agony. It feels like my shoulder is on fire and I reach with my opposite hand and my hand comes away bloody.

“How does that feel, Mr. Bigshot?” I hear Johnny Anderson’s voice from nearby.

“Johnny stop!” Cam yells from my side.

Hearing his voice, I am on autopilot.

I get up and stand in front of Cam as I hold my shoulder.

“What are you doing here?” I ask but then I see the gun in his hand and everything makes sense.

Johnny shot me.

I glance around and see people running and hiding throughout Central Park.

“Isn’t it obvious? I’m here to end things. If I can’t have Camdyn then no one can,” Johnny says deranged.

His hair is a mess as he raises the gun and aims it at Cam and I. I shelter Cam with my body and close my eyes as Johnny pulls the trigger again.

I hold my breath, waiting for the killing blow but I hear multiple shots fired.

Cam grabs me and drags me to the ground. My shoulder burns as I hit the grass but I do my best to cover Cam’s body with my own.

Shots ring around us but I keep my head down, unsure of what is going on and who is all shooting.

“Daddy!” I hear Maisey shout and my heart plummets to my stomach.

Where is my daughter? I want to run to her and instinct takes over.

“I have to go to Maisey,” I shout to Cam before standing and making my way towards Maisey’s screams.

I find her hidden behind a big rock and as I get behind it, I see Cam has followed me, thankfully.

We hid behind the rock, huddled together. The shots finally die down and I sneak a peak over the rock.

I see two police officers with their guns raised and Johnny with his back to us.

His back is fully red as he takes a step back before he falls to the ground. Someone must have called the cops and they had shot Johnny, multiple times.

“Are you okay?” I ask Maisey.

She cries into my chest, “I want to go home.”

“Cam, take Maisey home. I’m going to talk to the police.”

“I don’t think we should split up,” Cam says.

I look toward my little family and have to agree. We should stay together.

“Okay, stay close and behind me.”

We stand up from behind the rock and make our way toward the police.

I shield Maisey’s eyes so she doesn’t see Johnny. Glancing down, I see that he is lying there with his eyes open and body soaked in blood. He is obviously dead. I feel bad for being happy about it but he shot me and put my entire family in danger. Now that he is gone, I won’t have to worry about him anymore.
