“Come with me.”

“Where?”

“To Bourbon Street.”

I huffed then shook my head. “It’s too dangerous.”

“Is it any more dangerous than being sequestered inside this house? There are thousands of people in the city, converging at the same time to enjoy what only N’awlins can provide. A taste of sin and darkness wrapped in voodoo and magic.”

I rubbed my finger across my bottom lip. “You might be right.”

“There’s something you need to learn about me. I’m always right.” She extended her arm, offering me her hand. “Do you trust me, big boy?”

“Trust is earned.”

“Then allow me to show you what I consider to be trust.”

I slowly stared down at her hand, grinning like some fool. Then I grabbed it, allowing her to pull me to my feet before yanking her against me. The hard thud as our bodies crashed together was sweet music, so much so I cupped the side of her face, digging my fingertips into her roughly. “One hour.”

“Not nearly enough time to dance the night away or to get you to trust me.”

“That’s what I’m offering. Take it or leave it, naughty vixen.”

“You can be such a bastard.”

I took the glass from her hand, placing it on the table next to the chair. “That excites you, Delaney. I can tell.”

“I always did like bad boys.”

She was impossible to resist. “Where do you want to go?”

“Somewhere that you like to go. I want to know what you do for fun. And not your club.”

“I thought you enjoyed The Vault.”

“I do, but I want you all to myself.”

Her request forced a chuckle from deep within. “So you know, work is my fun. I like to make money and make my competitors my bitches.”

“Bor-ring. Then take me dancing.”

“Dancing, huh?”

Managing to shove herself out of my hold, when she twirled in the reflective light again, I realized she was wearing deep violet, one of my favorite colors.

Besides red, of course.

I should say no, the heightened level of danger too significant, but what the fuck? “Let me alert Daniel so he can drive us. Then I’ll change.”

“Just throw on a shirt. Oh, and cowboy boots. If you have them.” Her laugh floated around me, sucking me into a dark abyss.

“Where we’re going, the casual attire isn’t recommended.”

“Mmm… Why do I believe you have something kinky up your sleeve?”

“Tsk. Tsk. I’ve warned you before. Be careful what you ask for.”

It was obvious the bad girl had no idea what she was doing to me.
