I stop in my tracks and look at them both with my very best serious expression.

“We are here to figure this out. Those three people up there are our family too, but I will not let them come between us and cause us to fight. So, we need to find a solution.”

Alexi puts his hands in his pockets before striding ahead of me.

“The best solution would be for Laney to get over it.”

Evie mumbles under her breath, only for me to hear.

“Just like you get over needing a certain thread count on all of your clothes.”

But Alexi hears her anyway as we approach the hospital elevator.

“That is different and you know it.”

“Oh really?” Evie crosses her arms again as we ascend to the tenth floor of the hospital. I rub my eyes, already over this shit. It’s hardly nine in the morning for Cronos' sake.

“Is that because it’s something you can’t control? Is it different because your mind is tricking you into believing something is out of order when you’re stressed? Just like Laney’s?”

Alexi doesn’t answer her, he just faces forward.

“Yeah, that’s what I thought.”

As we get to Arrow’s room, Havoc meets us outside.

“What’s going on?” His voice is panicked and Evie glares at me.

“Did you give him zero context as to why we’re here?”

“Maybe.”I scratch the back of my neck, wincing slightly.

Evie rolls her eyes and then looks at Havoc.

“Damien here is pissed that Alexi and I are arguing about how you and Laney are dealing with your feelings. So, he took it upon himself to force us into doing your intervention.”

Havoc doesn’t seem to relax in the slightest. It’s as if facing Laney is just as difficult for him as facing something happening to Arrow.Damn, this girl’s got him messed up.

“Who’s side are you on?” Havoc asks Evie.

She pushes open the door to Arrow's room, startling what looked like a sleeping Laney who’s cuddling a stuffed unicorn.

“I’m on Laney’s side.” Evie walks to her friend and hugs her as she sits up on the couch. Alexi shakes Havoc’s hand with a nod as if to tell him he’s got his back.

Maybe this was a horrible idea.

“What are you all doing here? What are you on my side for?” Laney yawns, causing all of us to do the same.

“We are here to prove to Alexi that shutting out Havoc while you figure out what you want is actually a good thing.”

Laney’s brows pinch as she looks at Havoc. He glances at the unicorn pillow she was sleeping on and she tucks it behind her, clearing her throat.

“You’re joking. What did you do?”

Havoc scoffs. “I did nothing, these three came up with this idea all on their own.”

I watch his eyes drift to Arrow, pain and loss sitting heavily on his chest. Hell, I can feel it from here.

“You guys should go,” Laney says. “It’s not good to argue around him.”
