Page 93 of My Heartless Soul

I shift uncomfortably on the bed, trying to blend into it because I am pretty sure Sophie doesn’t like me, and this isn’t buying me any new brownie points. I mean, what is there to like when I’ve been treating her brother like crap and got them evicted from their home.

“Um, I’m sorry,” I mumble and get up from the bed, hastily tugging Vas’s shirt down to cover more of myself.

“Where are you going?” Vas’s voice stops me in place.

“Um, to my room?”

“No,” he cuts me off with a look that says stay the fuck in place and then turns back to his sister. “What time is it?”

“Five minutes before you need to leave to drop Vee at school.”

“Crap. We slept in. I’ll be ready in two,” he says, scrubbing his face, and gets moving to dress up fully while I am squirming over here under Sophie’s guarded look and Victoria’s gleeful one, but Vassar’s sister quickly turns Vee around and ushers her out of the room.

But not before I hear, “Auntie? So, I can call her mom?”

Oh hell…I think Vassar might’ve really given me half of his heart because suddenly, it is beating out of my ribcage.

“I’ll be right back. Don’t leave without me, okay?” Vassar comes up from behind me, placing a sweet kiss on my heated cheek. He is just about to step out the door when he turns around, gripping the doorframe as his face lights up with a beaming smile. “By the way, good morning, my little witch. I love you. And I can still taste you on my tongue.”

Oh, hell…

Just ask him, Kira. You are not a chicken. Where is this coming from?

“You still haven’t changed your mind?” I rush out the question fast and without breathing.

“Regarding?” Vassar looks up from his phone.

We are on our way to work, and I can’t help those stupid insecurities from coming out around him. This man strips me off my masks every time I am in his vicinity, and after last night, I don’t even bother putting them on anymore.

He can see me.

It will just take a minute for me to come to terms with that.

“About me. Us. You know,” I motion between him and I. “This.” I’m over here chewing my lips up, and this bastard is grinning like an idiot. “What’s so funny?”

“You.” He leans in, slipping his hand behind my neck and kisses me softly.

“I’m not funny,” I bristle at his comment. “I’m being serious. This is serious.”

“You’re right,” he mocks me and leans back into his seat. “This is all very serious. Where should we start? How about your pussy in my mouth?”

I gasp, scrambling to put the privacy screen back up, but it is obviously too late because I see Henry chuckling away in the rearview mirror, and his shoulders shake. “Vassar!”

“What?” he asks in a mocking innocent voice. Seriously, who is this man? “Surely you don’t think Mr. Henry doesn’t know what couples who are very much in love do together.”

I open and close my mouth because every word I could think of is lost.

Couples in love…

“Yes, Kira. You can have your little freak-out, and I will still be here.” He slides over to me, picking me up and depositing me in his lap. “I haven’t changed my mind. And I have no intention of letting you change yours. There is anus. There is no pretending, and let’s be honest, there never was to begin with. I was drawn to you when you were a stone-cold vampire, and now that you have let me into your soul, I’m not just drawn; I’m now drowning in you and loving every second of it. And let’s not forget last night and your pussy on my mouth.”

With that, his lips met mine, and whatever lip gloss I had on has been replaced with him. Giving me that hunger and raw possessiveness. His hands trail over my thighs and squeeze my flesh in their wake, and I find that my new pair of underwear becomes useless before the day has even started.

“We are here, baby,” he says softly, and that’s when I notice that the car is no longer moving.

“Oh.” How does he do this? How does he strip me of every defense I have carefully crafted over the last decade until I am mindlessly drifting in him?

“Yeah,” he chuckles. “Oh.”
