“Nah, I gotta get back to work,” Myles responds, slapping Lily on the shoulder. “If Rebecca let you in, it means the coast is clear.”

She continues down the hallway without even a second glance in my direction.Thank fuck.

Cal, on the other hand, jabs his index and middle finger toward his eyes, then twists his wrist to point them at me.

He’s watching me.

Message received.

Fucksake.

Once he’s fucked off, I walk around my desk and point to one of the vacated seats and point. Then I lean against my desk and cross my ankles.

See? Relaxed.Totally cool.

Lily grins softly, clutching her briefcase to her chest like a shield. Tentatively, she walks into the room and takes the seat closest to me.

“So,” she begins, dropping her briefcase to her lap.

“So,” I repeat. This is almost becoming our thing.

She inhales a deep breath and bites the side of her lip.

The movement draws my attention to her mouth.

Her plump lips flash with color and look insanely kissable.

Shit.

Clearing my throat, I opt to take a seat on the other side of the desk.

When there’s a desk between us, she sighs and opens her briefcase. “I know I’ve been MIA. I’m really sorry about that, London. I know I should have—”

I hold up a hand and cut her off. “Don’t. It’s not necessary, Lily.”

She shoots me a look that says she disagrees. “At any rate, I don’t want you to think I completely blew you off.” Her forehead scrunches together and she shakes her head.

What was that all about?

Before I can ask, she continues, “A-anyway, I’ve been contacting my vendors, getting quotes for the event. I think you’ll be really pleased.”

She clicks open her briefcase and pulls out a stack of papers. Then, she closes the case, setting it on the seat beside her.

“What’s this?” I ask as she hands the papers to me.

“The quotes.”

Of course.

I set them on the desk and pick up the first one. It’s a quote for the food—and it’s coming in well under budget.

“Nice,” I say, setting it aside and shuffling through the others.

Every single one of them is coming in under budget. Not just slightly, either. Somehow, she’s managed to plan it all for thousands less than anticipated.

She’s a goddamn miracle worker.

Noah’s going to be impressed.
