“These are awesome, Lily. How did you do this?” I ask, my surprise and awe hard to hide.

She runs her hand over the back of her neck. “I know a lot of people in this business. I just pulled in some favors.”

My eyebrows pull in. “Favors?”

She giggles. “Nothing nefarious.”

I narrow my eyes.

“Seriously. I use their services frequently. It’s more of a loyalty discount than anything,” she says, picking at her nails.

“Well, shit, this is—” I say, shaking my head. “Noah’s gonna love you.”

She beams back at me and relief washes over her stance as her shoulders drop. “You think? I was really worried that my absence this week was—”

I stand again, setting the papers on my desk. “No, he’s going to be thrilled. Really, what you’ve done here is impressive.”

Everything inside me is screaming at me to walk around the desk and hug her. Let her know Noah’s not the only one who’s grateful.

I am too. She’s saving my ass with this one.

Lily grins, pressing her hands between her knees. “Good. I was worried I messed things up.”

“You should never have been worried. I knew we’d manage. But this”—I tap the papers—“this puts us steps ahead.”

“It does?”

I nod. “Of course. We can skip ahead to getting everyone on board.”

“Are you sure? I mean, I can get more quotes so you can compare and contrast—”

That does it.

I walk around the desk and stand in front of her. “Lily, I trust your judgment here. If you’re happy going with these vendors, then so am I.”

A beautiful shade of pink floods her cheeks. “Oh,” she breathes.

“So, now that we have all of that settled, what else do we need?” I ask, needing to redirect the energy a bit because it’s suddenly very charged.

Does she notice it, too?

Her forehead crinkles as she thinks. “I mean, not really. We have the theme and with the vendors in place, it’s really all I need. Although, I wish—”

She twists her lip to the side, the rest of her sentence held hostage.

“You wish?” I prod, wanting desperately to know what she wants.

After a few moments, she exhales. “I really want to impress the Upper Tier—and obviously you and Noah. I wish I knew what they’re already used to experiencing. You know? Like, what do they already enjoy and how can we next level it?”

Again, her cheeks flush. My eyes flit to the way her chest rises and falls—like she’s nervous and excited at the prospect.

“Tonight’s Friday, you know,” I say before I can stop myself.

Danger.

Danger.

She narrows her eyes and then her eyebrows tip up in the middle. “I mean, I’m aware. What’s that got to—”
