“Dude?” Stefan called, snapping his fingers in my face.

I knocked down his hand and sat. He stared at me.

“Why are you staring at my sister like that?” he asked.

“What do you mean?” I asked, trying to avoid the question.

“Dude, back off. That’s my sister. Don’t try anything funny,” he said.

I rolled my eyes, raising my hands in surrender. “I’m not going to do anything funny. She’s my new administrative assistant.”

Stefan nodded, “Yeah, that’s all it better be.”

“What’s got you turning all Alpha male on me? Anyway, you never told me you had a sister,” I said.

Stefan sighed, “There’s nothing to tell. My mom left me with my dad, remarried, and had Mandy. I found out a couple of years later, and I contacted Mandy. I ended up staying away from my mom because of what she did to my dad and me. It made it difficult to stay in contact with Mandy. I had to focus on my dad’s company and his failing health.”

“Wow, and you just ‘failed’ to mention it?” I asked.

“What’s there to mention? My mom abandoned me. She found another man and had Mandy,” Stefan shrugged. “I love my sister, but I didn’t want to be a part of that family, so it was easier to stay away.”

I dropped it and changed the subject when I noticed his mood drastically change.

“So?” I raised a brow at him. “Why did you stop by again?”

“I came by to check on you, dude. I wanted to see how you’re doing. Also, get the update on Ms. ‘Milan’- the one-night stand where you pulled a Houdini.

I didn’t want to discuss Milan, especially since the one-night stand was outside my door, and shock, his sister.

“Let’s forget it, man. There’s nothing else to talk about,” I said.

“Fine. Adam said to inform you that the Board of Directors is getting impatient waiting to hear from you. They want to see designs for your new spring sports collection,” Stefan said.

“Why didn’t he tell me this himself?” I asked.

“He’s mad at you for skipping the race in Italy. He and Leo think you’re drowning. They’re concerned the Jessica saga is still affecting you,” Stefan replied. “There’s still time to get back in the race. What do you think?”

I raised my eyebrow at him. I suddenly understood what Stefan was doing here.

“So, they sent you to talk to me? I’m not getting back in that race. Maybe sign me up for the next one. The Formula One Milan is out of the question.”

“Well, I’m your best friend. I should know if you have any other problem, right?” Stefan asked.

“Dude, I’m fine. You can tell them I’ll have the new designs at the next board meeting,” I replied.

“That’s in two weeks,” Stefan pointed out.

I nodded, “Enough time.”

Stefan patted my shoulders, “Have fun.”

The minute Stefan walked out the door, I dialed Mandy’s office. Her voice could be heard almost instantly through the intercom.

“Yes?” she said.

“Come in, please. We need to talk.”
