Then she looked away, staring at Stefan. I smiled at her, and she blushed.
“Go ahead, go talk to him. I’ll hang around for a bit,” I told her.
She hugged me before running towards Stefan. I assessed the room, but Roger wasn’t anywhere to be seen. Suddenly, I started feeling lightheaded and decided to walk outside to clear my head.
As I stepped out of the office, someone grabbed me. A startled scream left my lips just as the person covered my mouth.
Chapter twelve
Mandy and Roger
Isquirmedandkickedhard against the person holding me. I heard a whimper, and my mouth was released. I whirled around and saw Kade staring at me with wide eyes.
“Are you secretly a judo master, babe?” he asked slurredly.
I frowned, “What are you doing here, Kade?”
The smell of the alcohol on his breath was almost overpowering. He was beyond being drunk, which was a bad sign. I looked around the dark corner he had dragged me to.
“I came to see you. I heard your office was throwing a party,” he slurred.
“You shouldn’t be here, Kade,” I said, trying to keep my voice calm.
I pulled out my phone, and he quickly took it away.
“What the hell, Kade? Give me my phone!” I snapped.
“Why? So you can call your boss to rescue you again?” he sneered, “You’re such a slut. Already fucking your boss!”
“What the hell is your problem, Kade? I’m not your girlfriend!” I snapped.
“Shut the hell up!” he growled, grabbing my wrist.
I cringed, trying to pry my wrist away, but his grip tightened.
“Let me go, Kade,” I said, trying to steady my voice.
The loud music drowned out my pleas for him to stop, and there was no sign of anyone coming out this way. I was on my own, and fear crawled up my spine.
“Please leave me alone, Kade,” I begged.
“You are mine! I’ll not allow you to whore for someone else,” Kade snapped at me.
I was completely pinned to the wall now. I turned away from his unwanted kisses.
He came closer, trying to force himself on me. I panicked and kicked him in the nuts, then I bolted. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me.
“Come back here!” he groaned. I was so close to the entrance when he grabbed me again. A scream left my lips, but he clamped his hands on my mouth again. Instead of letting him drag me off, I bit him and pushed him away.
I tripped on the stairs and fell backward off several stairs, landing on my back. Intense pain shot through my entire body. I groaned, trying to take in a breath. I struggled to get up as the pain was crippling, and I felt I couldn’t breathe.
“Help me!” I tried to scream, but I couldn’t yell very loud. I needed to do something to attract people’s attention inside the party.
He looked around and panicked when he heard me try to scream.
“I love you, Mandy. I didn’t mean to hurt you,” he said.
“I need help, my phone, give me… my phone. Call an ambulance,” I said, gritting my teeth in pain and barely getting audible words out.
