It wasn’t often anyone made me feel small. Even though I was just over five feet tall, I had ample tits, an ass that had a mind of its own, and a rounded belly to balance things out. Lars was a commanding presence no matter what form he was in. He helped me into the van in a way that made me feel graceful.

“I hope you have fun tonight,” I continued as we headed away from HQ. “It’s kind of intimidating to try to pack an entire human experience into three dates.”

“I love spending time with you. You always surprise me.” There was a rumble to his words. “And if you’re this excited about something, I can’t wait to experience it with you.”

How could I even consider going out with Armand again when Lars was so amazing?

Before Bibi had been able to secure this concert with Wolfsbane, I’d considered taking Lars to the same restaurant Armand had brought me to, so the viewers could have a side-by-side comparison of my two suitors. But that night had been a total snooze, and they deserved better than a repeat of that. Plus, a lot of the forum regulars were Wolfsbane fans. We were pretty sure the band members were shifters, but they never went public about it. Even Bibi’s lips were sealed. I couldn’t get her to spill the tea, even after a long night filled with margaritas.

The amphitheater was buzzing with excitement. Wolfsbane had made a surprise appearance as part of Bibifest a few weeks back, but this was the first time they’d done a whole concert in Sunset Springs. Bjorn drove the van past the gates, straight into backstage.

I couldn’t believe I was about to say this out loud. “Are we gonna watch the show from backstage?”

“I was thinking it would be nice to say hello to the band. Do you want to meet them?”

“It’s like you’re asking if I want to win the lottery.” I laughed. “I was hoping to give Lars the full metal experience. With the crowd and the lights and the energy. I know it might not be safe, but people at this show will probably think Lars is pretty metal.”

He gave me a puzzled look.

“It will all make sense later.” At least I hoped they’d accept him, because there was a good chance that some of the squatch hunters would be Wolfsbane fans too.

“That might be fun,” Bibi said as she gave air kisses to a production assistant who promptly handed her all-access lanyards. “But if it gets too intense for any reason, we’ll come back here. It’s not the same, but still exciting.”

In the distance, I could see the guys in the band warming up. Lars squeezed my hand. He had to feel the electricity flowing through my veins.

“Are you ready for your first concert?” I asked.

He nodded.

Lars was a hunted man, no matter what form he was in, but as man or beast, he made me feel invincible. We walked passed fans who recognized us from the show, calling out to us.

“They know who we are,” he said softly in disbelief.

“We’re kinda famous.” I was practically floating as we moved from the backstage area out to the crowd. The seats had been taken out so everyone could properly enjoy the show. A crush of humanity had gathered at the front of the stage. Normally, I would’ve fought my way to be front and center. But tonight, I wanted perspective. To take the whole thing in.

The sun had set, and the sky was a gorgeous mix of light blue, navy, and orange. Pure magic.

Lars looked around in wide-eyed wonder. A few people pointed at him as they passed.

“Hey, you’re the Bigfoot from the show. The one that shifted on live TV,” a guy with a Wolfbane T-shirt and a mohawk said.

“Yeah, I am.” Lars’s voice was deep and rumbly, but it didn’t faze this guy.

“That’s so cool, man. I wish I could do that. Be totally invincible,” he said. “Sucks that those hunters are after you.”

“They won’t touch him.” It was my turn to growl.

“Wouldn’t blame you for destroying some of them. They get what they deserve.” He raised his fist in salute. “Enjoy the show.”

A few other people came up to talk to us, and they were similarly encouraging. Lars slowly started to let down the guard I hadn’t realized he’d put up.

As much as I felt like he’d always been part of my life, I barely knew him.

The lights went down, and the butterflies rose in my stomach. “The band’s about to start the show. Get ready, it’s about to get loud in here.”

Normally, I’d be completely wrapped up in watching Wolfsbane play, but tonight, I was enraptured by Lars. I loved the way he wasn’t afraid to move in time with the music. I couldn’t exactly call it dancing, but there was no denying the beast had rhythm. His eyes lit up at the guitar solos, the lighting effects, and the flash of flames all around us. He even cheered at the end of the songs.

“You like this?” I asked loudly.
