Dragon slumber?

Yes.

I will wait for you. Or go to sleep with you. Whatever you need.

You would slumber with me?She detected the hope and love in his voice.

I spent so many years on the run. If we sleep for a couple, it just makes up for the hours I lost.

Thank you, little fox. You don’t know what your gift means to me.

I love you, Kell. If we don’t get a chance to speak until you wake up, then I want you to know that.

This conversion spell is dangerous, and the claw is untethered. You must be aware of the risks.

She stroked his mind with a caress. I know what you are doing can send you into eternal slumber. One we can’t wake up from. It’s okay. Either way, I will be with you.

Kell got to his feet as Allorin turned away from Rhadan to watch him approach.

“Impossible,” Allorin whispered before glancing back at Rhadan. “You betrayed me.”

“I was never loyal to you Allorin, nor did I pretend to be. You see events far differently than I do, but my brother is here to relieve you of your life.”

Allorin looked as if Rhadan had stabbed him in the heart. “We are friends; we have been for centuries.”

“No Allorin. My power twists the emotions of those around me, we met recently. I care no more for you than a bug beneath my shoe.” He huffed. “Actually, I would avoid stepping on the bug.”

Allorin roared as his power blasted toward Kell. Even in his fury, he could not bring himself to attack Rhadan. Kell was blown back but his shield held, and he walked slowly toward the mage.

Allorin turned to glare at Rhadan. “Your betrayal is worse than the human bitches who call themselves druids. If you ever have a mate, I will abduct her and take my revenge on her in ways you cannot conceive of.”

Rhadan’s face held no emotion. “If I have a mate she will fall under my spell and will do anything I ask. If you were to torture her, she would forget it as soon as I asked her to. There is no being in the world who is immune to me. Not even a mage as powerful as you.”

Allorin hissed as Kell continued to approach. “Curse you, Rhadan.”

Rhadan crumpled to the ground and Kell surged forward. She could feel the connection between the dragons. Rhadan was completely exposed without the magic to protect himself or the strength to shift.

Allorin yelled as Rhadan’s magic dissipated and he realized how he had been influenced. He muttered under his breath as Kell advanced on him.

Kell held a flaming sword in his hands. It looked nothing like the one he had held earlier. This looked like a dragon killer and his eyes blazed with white fire as he was infused by his brethren.

The dragon claw lay on the ground, but its light began to fade, and it returned to its natural color before the talons curled in on themselves. It was a bad sign if Adara still needed its power.

Alana recognized death when she saw it, and so did Allorin. The dragon advancing on him was the embodiment of power and destruction, and it had one goal. The mage’s destruction.

Allorin sent a power burst toward Kell, but it had little effect on his body. It glanced off and destroyed another section of wall in the courtyard. “This isn’t over. The red dies. This I vow.”

A light formed behind him as Kell lunged toward the mage. He was halted in midair as Allorin stepped through the portal and disappeared. Kell growled as the flaming sword disintegrated into smoke.

Alana ran to Kell. “We have to get the claw to the temple and return my disc.”

Kell closed his eyes. “I am imbued with the power of my species. There is nowhere for it to go.”

Alana smiled. “Yes, there is. Take my hand.”

She clasped his arms as she cast the siphoning spell. She felt the temple latch on and pulled the excess power from Kell. He breathed outward as the magic released his hold.

“Why did you stop?” Kell asked.
