Welcome to The Host. We hope your travel was pleasant and that you are enjoying the refreshments provided by your driver. You will be driven to the first staging area. In this area, you will be given a choice of evening wear provided by our sponsors as well as a make-up artist and hairstylist. Your personal belongings will be taken to the mansion and will be waiting for you after tonight's introductions.

You will not be permitted to mingle with the other candidates until after everyone has met The Host tonight, so please stay in your assigned area until you have been directed otherwise.

The minute you enter the limousine and head to the mansion, all recording devices will be turned on, which includes cameras and microphones. While in the limousine, the monitor will prompt you with questions for you to answer. Please answer them honestly and authentically.

Tonight’s viewing is live, so please remember to refrain from swearing. Enjoy getting to know The Host as well as the other candidates. We are thrilled that you have made it this far.

May your dreams come true!

Affectionately,

The Host Crew

“I wonder why tonight is so formal?” Evie asked aloud. “Maybe because some employers have formal events and they want to see if the candidates are able to act accordingly,” she answered. “No wonder Amanda wanted me to bring my formal. I guess I won’t be wearing my boots tonight!” she added with a giggle.

Evie folded up the paper and placed it in her backpack and leaned back as she enjoyed the view as it passed by. Eventually, the city buildings and packed freeways thinned as larger homes and curvy roads took their place.

The sedan slowed down as Evie saw a huge tent come into view. She waited behind another vehicle as she recognized Miss Avery getting out of her limousine. She disappeared behind a screen placed close to the limo door and then the limousine drove away.

Evie’s car inched its way to where the screen would eventually hide her from the vehicle behind her and her door was opened by a new person.

“Welcome to The Host,” greeted the new person. “Please leave all your belongings in the sedan except your cell phone. Members of the crew will make sure all your belongings are safely placed in the room you’ll be staying in.”

The person waited for Evie to grab her phone and then she continued.

“Please follow me.”

Evie got out and followed behind. “Hi, I’m Evie. What’s your name?” Evie asked.

“Bekah, but this will probably be the last time you see me.”

“Nice to meet you, Bekah… even if it might be the last time I see you.”

Bekah stopped and looked at Evie. Evie was quickly assessed by Bekah and Evie recognized the look of approval spread across Bekah’s face. She smiled briefly and then continued walking to a room with a wall full of lockers.

Please place your phone inside locker number13. When the door closes, place your thumbprint on the scanner. Your thumbprint will allow you to open the locker again when it’s your time to go home,” Bekah stated.

Evie pulled her phone out of her back pocket, turned it off, and then placed it in the locker. She closed the door, placed her thumb on the scanner, and heard the locker lock itself.

“Continue to follow me,” Bekah continued. Evie followed her through another set of hallways until she came to a door that said, “Miss Evie Call”.

“Ann is your make-up artist and hairstylist for tonight,” Bekah announced as she opened the door.

Evie entered the room and noticed a beautiful, slender young woman stand up from the make-up chair. Her hair was piled on top of her head and she wore black clothes with a black apron.

“Welcome, Miss Call. I’m Ann and I’m going to get you ready for tonight… but from what I can see, I don’t have to work all that hard. You are beautiful.”

“Awe,” Evie replied. “Thank you, but I just want to look presentable. You don’t have to go overboard.”

“What is your definition of presentable?” Ann inquired.

“A simple dress, not a lot of make-up, hair that doesn’t scream hairspray.”

“No 80s style hairdo for you?” Ann laughed.

Evie joined in the laugh. “No. My mother had her fair share of that.”
