“I get your style. Now, let’s look at some of the dresses the producers have picked out for you.”

Ann opened a wardrobe that displayed eight to ten dresses. Evie could tell they were fashionable and expensive, but none of them looked simple, and as Ann pulled each one out, none of them were modest.

“Which dress spoke to you?” Ann inquired.

“They are all very lovely, but I won’t wear any of them, Ann.”

“Really?” Ann replied in shock. “Why not?”

“Because I wouldn’t feel comfortable in any of them. I will not wear any dress without straps or sleeves and the ones you showed me that do have straps or sleeves have a back that goes all the way down to the small of my back.”

Ann just stood by the wardrobe in shock.

“I hope you’re not offended… Ann. They really are beautiful… I just won’t wear them. Do you have anything that will cover my back, my front, and hopefully my shoulders?”

“You’re not giving me a lot to work with but let me go look around.”

Evie knew she upset Ann, but there were some things she was not willing to give in to. Modesty in her wardrobe was one of those things.

“Looks like today is your lucky day. I’m actually quite impressed that you stood up for your likes and dislikes. I’m sure The Host will see that authenticity as well. What do you think of this?”

Ann unzipped a black garment bag and produced a sleek, wine-red ankle-length dress with capped sleeves that fell off the shoulders. The front and back were modest as well and the skirt flowed freely.

“And it’s even in your size,” Ann added with a huge smile.

Evie smiled in return. “It’s beautiful.”

“Let’s try it on!” Ann insisted.

Evie took the dress and walked behind a dressing screen and put the dress on. It fit beautifully… as if it was custom-made to fit her specific body type… small on top and wide down below.

“The Host won’t be able to take his eyes off ya!” Ann purred.

“What?” Evie blurted. “That’s not what I want!”

“Why in the world, not? He’s hot!” Ann inquired.

“Because there’s more to a person than just looks,” Evie argued. “Besides, I’m not here to turn heads. I’m here to see if my life should go in a different direction.”

Ann looked at Evie as if she were crazy and then she started to gather her make-up and hair-styling items. “You go ahead and get out of that dress so I can do your hair and make-up. Then when we're done, you can get back in it.”

Ann didn’t talk for the rest of the time she was working on Evie, and Evie welcomed the silence. She needed quiet time to practice her mission statement in her head so that when she was asked what kind of job she preferred, she would sound polished instead of wishy-washy.

“There you are, Miss Call. You’re all finished.”

Evie opened her eyes and admired herself in the mirror. She did look stunning, thanks to Ann.

“Ann,” Evie uttered. “You did a fabulous job. Thank you for your amazing artistic work.”

Ann nodded her head and said, “You’re welcome.”

Then Evie shook Ann’s hand and said, “I hope I didn’t offend you. If I did, I didn’t mean to. I’m sure The Host is as hot as you say he is, I’m just not looking for romance right now. I just broke off an engagement.”

“Then why are you here?” Ann sincerely asked.

“To be honest, I’m not quite sure. My roommate told me The Host could help me with getting a better job. I need a better job so here I am… willing to put myself on the butcher block… literally as a ton of people will see me on TV. Oh man… what did I get myself into, Ann?”

Before Ann could say anything, there was a knock on the door and then it opened.
