Aaliyah's smile expanded at the mention of her name. She seemed to be pleased that he remembered it.

“I’m an office manager for a lawyer in my hometown,” she answered.

“That sounds really interesting,” Matt said. “I’m sure you stay really busy.”

“That I do. My boss had a hard time letting me go, but she understood my desire to find love.”

Matt smiled. He liked Aaliyah’s honesty and willingness to put her heart on the line. He then turned his attention to the last one in the group. He remembered Maeve as her hug ignited something within, but he wasn’t going to let a physical attraction overrule other important parts of a relationship.

“I work with my parents in their boutique,” Maeve said in her Southern accent.

“What kind of boutique?” Matt asked.

“Your everyday garden variety. We sell a little bit of everything.”

“Sounds charming.”

“It is. It’s such a dreamy little shop and people from all around Savannah come to our little town to find treasures of their own. I can’t wait to show you!”

“Small towns are wonderful in their unique way,” Matt said. He grew up in a small town, and when he was young, he was more than excited to leave that small town but maybe Georgia small towns were different from California small towns. He liked Maeve, so he figured she would have a good chance of showing him her small town. “Ladies, it’s time for me to head over to the next group. Until later!” Matt bowed slightly and then moved toward the next group of five women.

In this group, he talked with Baylor from Texas who wrote romance novels, Zoe from Montana who worked at an electric company, Marci from Northern California who was a real estate agent, Bonnie from Nevada who was a hairstylist, and Sarah from Oregon who was an office manager at a car dealership. The next group of five women were Tatiana from New Mexico who worked as an architect, Devanee from Southern California who was a model, Coreen from New York who worked at a local college in admissions, Fran from Florida who was a chef, and Kristie from Virginia who was a life coach.

The fourth group Matt went to was Neveah’s group. All five eyes turned toward him as he walked up to them, but Neveah was definitely the woman who overpowered the group. Matt wasn’t sure if she did it on purpose or if it was solely because of her beauty and height. The other women in her group didn’t seem to have a chance and it manifested itself while trying to talk with them. Valerie from Washington D.C. and Tamisyn from Illinois didn’t have much to say and they looked as if they would rather be somewhere else. Both Emanee and Dorothy held their conversations well as he learned that Emanee loved being a preschool teacher and Dorothy was a fitness coach, but Neveah presented herself with such elegance and politeness that everyone else paled by comparison.

Neveah was an Instagram influencer and three of the women in their group knew of her. Matt didn’t quite understand what an influencer did to earn money, but she assured him she earned a large income as one.

The last group was Evie’s. As Matt walked over to that group, everyone smiled as he approached, but Evie’s smile set his heart pounding and put his brain to mush… again.

“Last, but definitely not least,” Matt commented as he approached. “Please, tell me what your line of work is.”

“I’m an esthetician,” Verlia announced. “I can give amazing face massages.”

“My sister has given me a couple throughout my life, and I like them. They’re very relaxing.”

“Then I’ll make sure to give you one when I get an invitation,” she purred.

Matt glanced toward Evie next and her eyes were wide as saucers. Evie glared at Verlia as if she had gone crazy and then glanced at Matt to see what his reaction would be. Matt tried not to smirk at the incredulous look on Evie’s face, but he had no idea why she looked so shocked.

“And you, Evie? What do you do?”

Evie quickly turned back to Matt, her eyes still wide with shock and uttered, “I’m a veterinarian. I got my degree last summer, but I still haven’t been able to secure a clinic of my own. I’ve worked in a clinic as a vet tech for small animals in Denver, but I really love the country and I would love to work with large animals such as horses and cows.”

“I grew up around horses,” Matt responded, as he was unsure why she was trying to sell him on her credentials.

“Horses are definitely my favorite, but I love all animals. I brought my boots,” Evie shimmied with excitement. “So, I’m able and willing to show anyone what I’m capable of doing.”

Matt and the other four women stared speechlessly at Evie. “I thought they had to do some sort of psychological screening before they accepted any candidates,” Matt thought as he kept a plastered smile on his face. “She sure is beautiful, but she’s got a couple of loose screws.”

“I’d love to see you in your boots,” he finally uttered, his smile still plastered on his face wondering if Evie would be one of the six he’d send home tonight.

“Callie,” Matt quickly said, hoping to divert the awkwardness of the conversation. “What do you do?”

“I’m a helicopter medic pilot,” she announced.

“Hence, the love of fun!” Matt added with a huge smile on his face.

“Flying helicopters is amazing and I love every minute of it. With the added adrenaline of flying someone who needs immediate medical attention, that adrenalin soars through the roof!”
