“There’s my problem. I’m not carrying any knives. I couldn’t bring them on the plane. Did you bring any?” Evie laughed.

“I have some terrifying scissors!” Saylor laughed as she lifted the pair in her hands. “But you did bring your boots, right?”

“Of course, I did! I thought this was a job reality show!”

They both laughed… mostly at the irony of Evie’s predicament.

“As for the other dating reality show, I would have no idea whether it’s the same. I never watched it.”

“Darn, I’ll have to wait until Monday to see what happens next. So, tell me about Matt. What do you think of him?”

“He’s nice.”

Saylor smacked Evie again. “More. Give me more!”

Evie shrugged her shoulders. “I’m not sure there is more to give. This is a mistake, and I don’t want to give in to any romantic ideation when the entire surrounding is fake.”

“So, getting your hair cut off didn’t really happen because it’s fake?”

“Saylor!” Evie grunted. “You know what I mean. The one-on-ones with romantic music softly playing in the background.”

“How many one-on-ones have you had?”

“Just one official one.”

“But you’ve had others?”

“Yes, when he ran into me in Brian’s office after I tried to get released from my contract. Lake was there as well and he heard me yell “I’m Jewish,” so now he probably thinks I’m Jewish. Did you know we can’t talk about religion?”

Saylor didn’t say anything because she knew once her sister started to talk, it was best to let her continue until she finished.

“I mean, what sort of messed up world does that? Religion is such a vital part of a relationship, so you would think that any potential couple would want to bring that up at the beginning, not when emotions have already been expressed and thoughts begin to emerge of whether or not this could be something real. Right?”

“Right,” Saylor agreed.

“And now he probably thinks I’m Jewish, which is better than nothing, but seriously. The looks he’s given me when I told him I didn’t drink, or when he encountered me in the library and I was reading Holes. Which, by the way, he thinks is a silly children’s book. Although he did say he enjoyed reading it to his younger sisters.

“And what was he thinking when he noticed I was the only person at the pool wearing a one-piece swimsuit, or didn’t dress to impress at breakfast time? You would think if you wanted reality, you should show up with no make-up on and simple, baggy clothes. That would be reality!”

“That would be reality,” Saylor agreed. “It’s definitely my reality with little ones.”

“Right?” Evie exclaimed. “But this is fake! Everyone is dressed to impress every second of the day. I mean it’s okay to dress up for a date and stuff, but how does one truly get to know someone when you’re “on stage” twenty-four-seven? It’s not real.”

“I think you’ve stated your point.”

“And why would I want to stay? Matt isn’t even the type of guy I’d normally be interested in.”

“What kind of guy are you normally interested in?” Saylor probed.

“To start off, someone who is a member of the church.”

“How do you know he’s not a member of the church?”

“Oh, my goodness, Saylor. Oh, let’s see. He drinks, he has tattoos, he’s currently dating nine women, starting off with twenty-five mind you, and he’s kissed more than one of us.”

“You’ve kissed him?”

“Oh no!” Evie hollered. “I wouldn’t do that.”
