“Fuck, I forgot how possessive we can get, but chill out.” He put his hands up. “We are here to help, I swear.”
“Say it again,” Lucien snarled, grabbing his arm.
Ryder's eyes glowed yellow.
“Say it again,” Zev snapped.
Ryder looked at Lucien and then Zev, his nostrils flaring like he was trying to keep his shit together.
“We are here to help you, I swear,” he growled.
Lucien nodded his head. “He’s telling the truth.”
Ryder pulled his arm out of his grasp. “So, what are you some kind of truth wolf?”
“Pretty much,” Lucien shrugged. “I’m going to check on…”
A loud boom had us running out of the kitchen to look out the window. A huge explosion just decimated the gates. Ryder put his hand to his ear.
“Yeah, no shit fucker, I saw that,” he said to no one. “How many?”
“Who the hell are you talking to?” Zev looked around the room.
Ryder tapped his ear, showing us a black object in his ear.
“What the hell is that and why is it in your ear?”
I stood back wondering if it was a bug.
“Is he here?” Ryder looked at me like I was an idiot.
He nodded his head.
“It’s talking to him,” Zev said, looking at it.
I listened more carefully. It was talking to him and if I wasn’t mistaken it was one of the vampires.
“Fuck, ok, yeah, I know,” Ryder growled. “Ok, meet us out back.”
“Back?” Zev snarled.
“Yeah, we have to get out of here,” Ryder said walking out of the dining room. “Go get Katarina and we can all leave.”
“We are not leaving,” I said, walking past him to go to Katarina.
“You want to save the baby and her, then yes we are fucking leaving.” He rolled his eyes at me.
“How the hell do you know that?” Lucien’s eyes flashed yellow.
“Serena knew how this would play out if she broke the curse. She knew many possibilities, and if we don’t leave now, he will kill that child.”
“Fuck,” I whispered, as anxiety tried to rip me apart.
The front door slammed open.
“Boss, we have a problem.” One of the twins ran in. “He’s got one of the sisters and her father.”
“Willingly?” Ryder asked.
