“It’s not just you anymore, Katarina, you are pregnant with our child, so if you think I’m just going to let you run into danger, you’re wrong.” He glared down at her.

“Kitten, we just got you,” I said, hoping to ease the tension.

“We can’t lose you, Katarina,” Zev said, softening his glare at her.

“Well, I can’t lose any of you or my family, so help me not lose anyone else.” She bit her trembling lip.

“We do it together,” I said

KATARINA

Ididn’t like being separated from my mates, it was like a clawing sensation in my chest that irritated the shit out of me so that all I wanted to do was smash some heads in.

“I think we should split up,” Ryder said, breaking up our moment, and we all pulled away from each other. “You guys go find Lucien, we will take out as many people as we can, and then we can get everyone else together.”

“Ok,” Zev said, reaching for me when the ground shook and the entrance to the library collapsed. The windows behind me blew open from a gust of wind. I threw my arms up instinctively, saving Zev from being thrown back.

“Do not kill them!” I heard a man yell. “He needs them alive!”

A group of people entered the library and in an instant magic and spells were being thrown at us. I threw up a huge wall of fire, looking for Aeon quickly.

“We’re trapped, we will have to fight our way out,” Zev yelled.

I nodded my head, releasing the wall, throwing fire at anyone who wasn’t us. Zev used his magic to grow roots and get anyone who was closest to outside to drag them out.

A large man with a sword came running at me, but anything I threw at him, bounced off him. I growled when I realized he had a shield. He swung the sword at me, clearly trying to kill me instead of just “knocking” me out. I slid down, getting one of my knives out of my thigh holster, slicing his outer thigh, stabbing his ass and lighting him on fire.

He dropped the sword yelling, running around like he couldn’t just stop, drop, and roll. I lifted the sword before another man ran up to me shooting ice at me. I blocked with my fire, grabbing another knife throwing to where he was at. I hoped he hadn’t moved before I let the wall go, surprising him before I swung into his abdomen. The squelch of blood was enough to make me flinch as I yanked the blade out.

The sword was heavier than I was used to, but it was better than just having throwing knives. Before I could move onto the next person, I was tackled with a heavy body laying on top of me. I quickly threw my head back, making contact with their head before I lit my hand on fire, touching them wherever I could.

They grunted, getting off of me, actually rolling around before kicking them in the stomach and setting their whole body on fire. Someone else grabbed me from behind, lifting me, throwing me on the floor. My side flared in pain when someone grabbed my arm dragging me through the rubble. I laughed because he had not been paying attention. I set my hand on fire when we reached the door to go outside.

The fire went up his arm, but it looked like it didn’t bother him. He looked back at me, smiling. He dragged me outside and I smirked. I grew thick roots that shot out of the ground towards him, wrapping around his neck, pulling back quickly, and snapping it. His grip immediately relaxed, and I laid still for a moment seeing a black wolf running for me.

He ran into someone, sinking his teething into their neck before pulling back a chunk of their neck. I looked away from thegruesome sight weirdly turned on that this ruthless man would literally kill to get to me. Zev shifted before he got to me, helping me up.

“Are you ok?” He held me by my shoulders looking me over.

“Peachy,” I said quickly. “Where is Aeon?”

“I don’t know, I’ve been keeping an eye out for you and when I saw that guy dragged you, I only saw you.” He turned around, keeping me behind him.

I wanted to roll my eyes, but it gave me a chance to look around for Aeon quickly. He was nowhere to be found, making my chest clench in nervousness. A bad feeling passed over me.

“Zev, where the fuck is he?” I snapped.

A blade came towards us, Zev caught it and launched it back. Vines grew out of the ground hitting one guy right in the face. Another set grew when a guy stepped over it, launching and dropping him quickly. I flinched when he fell back down. Seeing Zev in action, I should not have been this turned on.

Aeon? Lucien?I said, through the bond.

Ryder came into view in wolf form jumping on a guy, biting down on his arm. There was no sign of Gray, I hoped that Aeon was with him. A gust of wind hit us, lifting us up, throwing us against the wall of the library. I grunted at the impact, when they did it again. Zev snarled when I felt like it was going to happen a third time.

“Fuck you,” I snapped, throwing my hands out keeping Zev and I suspended in the air.

I had no idea what the hell I was doing, locking eyes with Caston’s cousin. Her smile was demented while we stared at each other. She tried to move us again, but I kept us still, her magic pushing against me more and more.
