“I don’t know why my cousin wanted a cunt like you, but I guess he was right, you do have magic,” she sneered, putting more effort into her magic.

I grunted from the force of her magic trying to hold on until a dark blonde wolf came running at her. He launched himself at her, sinking his teeth into her neck. The force of her magic instantly gave way. Zev and I fell until I held my hands out, concentrating on not hitting the floor. We stopped just before we hit the ground, lowering us softly until we hit the grass.

“Are you ok?” Zev asked for help.

I nodded my head, staring at my hands, wondering where that magic had come from. It felt like second nature.

“That was you, Katarina,” Zev said, grabbing me. “As much as I’d like to figure out what that was, we need to find Aeon and get your family out of here.”

We ran into more of Caston’s people as we headed for the front of the castle. Zev shifted as he and Lucien took care of them while I covered our six. We rounded the corner of the house and noticed only a small group of people. My father, sister and niece were in the middle with Caston standing by them.

“This feels wrong,” I said immediately, as I felt my intuition kick in. “This isn’t right, we need to…”

A loud growl cut my sentence off.

I turned around to see six people coming at us, but I felt even more behind me. I erected a wall of fire behind me when a knife appeared through the fire, sinking into my shoulder. The pain was excruciating at first, but then numbness started to take over.

Get Katarina out of here, it's a trap.Aeon said, through our bond.

“Ryder!” Zev bellowed.

Are you ok?I asked Aeon, lifting someone with my magic.

I love you.He replied.

I threw my hand out again with another wall of fire, stepping aside to make sure I didn’t get hit again. I needed to find Aeon now. My shoulder was starting to numb, when I look over to see Zev pinned down and Lucien fighting off two people.

“No!” I yelled, panicking, reaching for more knives but I had none.

I threw out a ball of fire, but it wasn’t strong at all. Panic hit me as I tried to grow vines out of the ground, but I was unsuccessful.

“Ryder!” Zev yelled again, when the sound of Caston’s laugh echoed around us.

Run, Katarina.Zev’s voice growled in my head.

No!I replied.

Before I could make my own decision one of the twins grabbed me, throwing me over his shoulder.

Run, Katarina, we love you.Lucien’s voice sounded tired.

“No, No, No!I yelled, as we ran.

“Katarina, we need to leave.”

I didn’t know which twin it was, but I tried pushing them off, but they were too strong. We stopped abruptly, giving me vertigo and when they set me down, I was still a little unbalanced.

“What the fuck,” I snarled, when I had regained my equilibrium.

“Kat, we had to get you out.” I finally realized it was Soren.

“I can’t leave them,” I snapped, walking back from where we came, which was in the forest behind the house.

He grabbed my arm, making me hiss because it was all numb and his grip felt like tiny needles hitting my nerves.

“Shit.” He looked at the knife that was still embedded in my shoulder.

Soren didn’t give me a chance to do anything before he pulled it out. I growled at the pain, glaring at him, before I pushed past him walking back to my men when Ryder came running towards us in his wolf form. He shifted before he got to me walking up to me in one fluid motion.
