“Come on, let's get out of here.” He grabbed my upper arm.

“No!” I snarled, pulling away, finally getting some feeling in my arm. “I won’t leave them, Ryder.”

“Katarina, I can’t let you go back there,” he said softly. “I know you're pregnant and as a shifter I know they would want you safe. I can’t let you go back there.”

“Ryder, I can’t just walk away from them,” I whispered, my lips trembling from the need to cry.

“He won’t do anything to them, we need to regroup, figure out a plan and we can save them,” he said, with pity in his eyes.

“What about Gray?” I said. I was trying to delay leaving, I needed time to think of a way to get back to them.

“We have a meeting place, we will wait for him there,” he said, watching me carefully. “Don’t make me throw you over my shoulder and force you into the car.”

I looked behind him to see an SUV.

“Ryder, please,” I begged, even though I was tired and weak.

His logic was sound to regroup, but I just couldn’t leave them.

“No, Katarina.” His voice was firm. “I made a promise to your sister, and I intend to keep it.”

“Come on, Kat, you're exhausted, you need food and sleep, the baby needs you to be strong,” Soren said, standing next to Ryder.

I looked between them, weighing my options. Soren was right. I was tired, my arm was killing me, and my magic was low.

“I can’t leave them, he might kill them and then what would I do?” I fell to my knees. “They are the fathers of my child, I just can’t abandon them, we just got our freedom.”

I cried into my hands. The sound of a car door opening made me look up at a gorgeous woman with hair so blonde it was almost white. She was ethereal, she glowed with the moonlight, and she looked so young.

“Goldie, you should stay in the car.” Soren went up to the beautiful woman.

“Is this the sister of the woman you loved?” she asked, looking at Ryder. Her voice was beautiful and melodic.

Ryder nodded.

“And Gray is missing?” she asked, looking between both of them.

“I didn’t see him on my way here, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t get away,” Ryder said, his voice was different, less growly.

“You of all people know how mates work, what she is feeling.” She walked towards me, when they reached for her, she gave them a glare. “See, how can you ask her to do what you are not willing to do.”

The beautiful woman walked to me, knelt in front of me in her pale pink dress. She grabbed my hand, smiling at me and as much as I wanted to be wary of her, I wasn’t. She gave me comfort I was not expecting.

I can’t hold them long, but take this. Go get your mates and bring Gray back. It’s safe for the baby.

Looking down at our hands was a vial of Oria. Emotions clogged up my throat. I wanted to hug her, cry tears of happiness, do something to show my appreciation, but I couldn’t let them know what we were up to. So, I did the one things guys hate. I cried a big ole ugly cry.

“Thank you. I hope one day I can return the favor,” I whispered.

She smiled, patting my hand before getting up and turning towards them.

“I think we should all go with her, we can take…”

“Absolutely not!” Ryder growled.

“Goldie, bringing you here was dangerous as it is.” Soren looked like he was panicking.

“She deserves a chance with her mates,” she yelled.
