“Caston said that you were moon?—”

I noticed it too late when the aggressive man pushed both of them off the roof.

“No!” I tried to reach for either of them before they fell to their death, but I was too slow. Aeon slipped an arm around my waist before I followed them over the edge.

But one of them grabbed me, throwing off Aeon’s balance and dragging us over the edge.

“Katarina!” Zev bellowed.

I screamed as we free fell before we abruptly stopped. The jerk on my arm was excruciating, but we had stopped falling. I looked up to see Aeon holding on to the edge of the roof.

“Kitten, are you ok?” he said, through clenched teeth.

“My arm,” I cried out, hanging like this was making it worse.

“Use your other arm, we might have dislocated it,” he said, trying to adjust his hold on the roof.

“I can’t.” I ground my teeth against the pain.

My palms were sweating, the pain was too much, my heart was pounding and once the wind blew hard enough, I felt his grip loosen. It made me cry out in pain as my hands slipped out of his grasp.

Oh shit, I’m falling…

The feeling didn’t last long until a huge black wolf caught me, curling himself around me, protecting me as we crashed into a window. This time I felt and heard everything. The sound of glass breaking, a sickening crunch when we landed, and the soft yelp that left him.

“Zev,” I said, as I tried to get up, feeling pain in my arm again and along my side where we fell.

There was glass everywhere as I rolled away to look at his enormous body, unmoving.

“Zev.” I ran my hand over his chest hoping he would stir, he was still breathing, but he didn’t move.

I looked over at him again, when I noticed blood seeping out from under him.

No, no, no…

“Zev, baby, come on, wake up.”

Panic made my voice come out in high tones as I looked around to see where we were at. We were in a room, but it wasn’t one I was familiar with.

Lucien? Aeon?

I tried reaching out like I did with Lucien that one time, but I wasn’t sure if it was a one-way connection. The blood was pooling faster, staining my pants, making me panic more.

“Zev, we have to move you. I need you to wake up,” I whispered, wanting to shake him, but I didn’t want to create any more damage. The curse would bring him back to me. It brought Lucien back, it brought me back, but Mr. Potter had mentioned the magic of the spell had been waning.

What if he dies?

That thought made my panic more severe. I got up, looked around the room to see if there was something I could use to drag him back to Mr. Potter. When nothing popped out, I knew I was fucked. I was going to have to leave him.

Tears welled in my eyes seeing the puddle get bigger while his breathing became more labored.

“Lucien! Aeon!!” I tried to control the need to sob.

I stepped over Zev, slipping on the blood, but righting myself before I fell on him. As much as I wanted to get help, leaving him felt unbearable.

“Get your shit together, Katarina,” I whispered to myself, walking away from Zev, weaving around the furniture and whatever else was in here.

When I finally got to the door, I looked back to see Zev and I swear the pool of blood was twice as big. Yanking the door open, I yelled.
