I pulled my hair away, tugging on the sweater to show her my mate marks.

“Yeah, I am stupid enough.” I tried not to feel offended by her words. “This is not how I wanted you to find out and definitely not how I thought you would react, but if it's that abhorrent that I have mates then maybe you should leave. I really appreciate you saving me.”

I turned away to walk back to the castle when a thought occurred to me.

“I’d appreciate it if Ryder, Soren, and Gray came back with me so we could discuss the items still needed, and I’ll be keeping Clodius if it’s ok with you.” I looked at Ryder.

“Yeah, I have no use for the fucker, I was going to chop him up into little pieces and leave crumbs for Caston to find wondering how long it would take him to figure out who it was.”

I laughed at Ryder.

“Maybe we can even send him pies with his friend in it?” Soren added.

“As much as I love the sound of that, I think I would like to interrogate him and then let the wolves go at him,” I said, as Soren laughed.

“Ms. Katarina!” Mr. Potter floated towards us, embracing me in a hug. “I thought we had lost you.”

“No, they arrived just in time to save me,” I said, patting him on his back.

“They are losing their minds without you. We must head back.” He pulled away looking at everyone a little suspiciously.

“We were discussing what to do with the man who took me, I think we should take him back,” I said shivering. “Do you think you could return him to the castle?”

“Of course,” he said, floating to him and instantly disappearing with him.

“What the hell?” Serena screeched.

“Man, I haven’t seen a ghost in years.” Ryder looked where Mr. Potter had disappeared. “Come on Kat, let's get you back to your men.”

“Here I can take her.” Soren lifted me up and took off in a run with me in his arms.

“Dude, not a good idea!” Ryder yelled.

“I got you Katarina.” Soren’s intentions were good, but I knew once we arrived the guys might go ballistic and I secretly loved it.

The pull of the curse has started. I couldn’t shift until I knew she was safe. Seeing her being taken away was agony I hadn’t expected to feel so viscerally. A piece of me felt like it was missing and I couldn’t even fathom what Lucien and Aeon were feeling.

Lucien was by the barrier with his hands against it, constantly looking around, his anxiety through the bond making me feel worse. Aeon was like a statue with his arms crossed against his chest. He worried me because I felt nothing through our bond. This was just a glimpse of what our future could be if she died, but ten times worse.

It terrified me that my brothers could be shells of themselves, lost in such profound grief that almost nothing would bring them back from their loss. My jaw ached from the constant clenching I had been doing, waiting for any sign she would be back. Just waiting to see if I would see her one more time or if any chance I had with mating her was completely gone.

“You think her sister is going to take her away from us?” Lucien’s voice broke the silence.

Aeon and I looked at each other, our need to protect Lucien was ingrained in us, but this was something we couldn’t protect him from.

“It’s a possibility.” Aeon’s jaw clenched. “But I don’t think she will leave us.”

His conviction was strong through the bond, I also felt that sliver of doubt, and while I didn’t think Katarina would walk away from us, her sister was an unpredictable factor. She might take her while she was feeling weak or possibly unconscious.

I growled, the need to shift was getting to be unbearable, hairs started to sprout along my arm, the magic of the curse was pulling me under and for once, my wolf fought the curse with me.

“Do you see that?”

My head snapped towards the barrier seeing someone coming, the need to shift faded away at the thought of her coming back to me… to us. I walked up seeing them running, when I noticed a man was carrying Katarina. We all immediately growled, but the person didn’t seem to take the hint that he wasn’t wanted here.
