The wolf looked back at me; he knew I had been listening. I nodded at him, giving him some reassurance I wouldn’t say anything. Being in love with a Belladonna wasn’t easy.

“Please sit, I have tea and coffee with biscuits and blueberry muffins.” Mr. Potter looked positively happy with our guests. “If you’re very hungry, I can heat up some food.”

“We don’t have much time,” I said, feeling the curse call again.

“Well then, let’s get the introductions out of the way, Lucien, Aeon and Zev,” Katarina said pointing at each of us. “That is Soren and Gray.” She pointed at the twins. “That is Ryder and my sister Serena.”

“Great, what did you need to discuss with us?” I snapped, Katarina shot me an annoyed look, but I didn’t have much time to be nice.

“We have located the Oria. It’s only at one location, and we can’t seem to get in to purchase a very powerful artifact, but you know what, now that I think about it.” Ryder pointed at Katarina. “If that necklace does what I think it does then we might not have to buy the artifact. The other two items require agood amount of money that I’m not comfortable footing the bill for.”

Katarina looked down at the necklace, then took it off.

“If we didn’t have this, what were you coming here for?” Katarina tossed the necklace at Ryder.

“Money,” he said, catching it. “Or suggestions on how to break the ward around the tower.”

“If anyone knew what to make, it would be Serena. I have a little money but how much are we talking about?”

I didn’t wait around to hear what he said when I left the room. I went towards the library, but instead of going in through the doors, I kept walking. The hallway led to a dead-end with a statue. It was the moon goddess holding onto the moon in one hand and a bow in the other hand. I pulled the bow down, giving way to a secret passage on the side of the statue.

I walked down the stairs into the lower levels of the castle. It had been years since I had any reason to be down here. It had once housed our prisoners, was our safe space in case of an attack, and our escape route if we needed to leave. One room down here housed our money.

Passing a few cells, I noticed one of them was occupied by that asshole who took Katarina. I couldn’t help but imagine all the ways I could make him hurt for touching her. He was going to pay with his life, and it wouldnotbe a quick ending for him.

I grabbed a bag off the wall, sliced my finger with my canine before I pushed it against a door. It shimmered before disappearing, showing me our family vault.

Walking to the chest of gold we had, I grabbed a few handfuls to stuff into the bag. The curse’s call was getting too hard to ignore. I just needed a little more time and I could shift. I took slow, deep breaths until I regained control. I raced back upstairs and everyone was standing by the door; there was tension in the air.

“I thought you had shifted; I was getting worried.” Katarina looked relieved.

“I don’t have much time, but if that doesn’t cover what we want, and you need more you come back.” I threw the bag at Ryder, I felt like we understood each other. “If you can bring us the items we need, I’ll give you another bag full.”

He weighed the bag in his hands before nodding his head. “If I need more or if we hit a snag, I’ll have Serena contact you.”

“Katarina—”

“I’ll talk to you later, Serena,” Katarina looked at her sister with a fierce expression.

“I didn’t mean?—”

“I’ll talk to you later,” she said, before walking away.

I looked at the guys and nodded my head so they would follow her.

“Come on, let’s get you cleaned and into bed.” Lucien picked her up.

Serena watched Katarina go up the stairs as her lip trembled. She pursed her lips, looking heartbroken.

“Come on, Serena.” Ryder put his hand on the small of her back ushering her out the door.

“Ryder,” she protested.

“It’s best if you're not here when we have to shift, the curse is already calling me, and my brothers soon follow,” I said, walking behind them. “Our beasts are vicious and even Katarina isn’t safe from them.”

“Are you saying you hunt her?” she snapped.

“If she is outside of her room and she runs into one of us, yes our beasts don’t recognize her and unfortunately she’s had to run from us.” I wanted to growl at her for her tone, but I kept my mouth shut.
