“Do you know if it hurts?” Her voice was small.

“I don’t think so,” I said, thinking back on previous Belladonnas. “I think it will be quick and painless.”

She shuddered again, her fear was palpable, and I would have traded places with her in a second. The clock chimed, more obnoxious than ever. She stilled at the sound.

“It feels like so long since I’ve heard the clock,” her voice wobbled.

“I think it stopped when Lucien no longer woke and slept with the spell at the usual times.” Thinking it had been so long since he had heard it.

“Ten minutes?” she whispered.

“Yes,” I said, holding her closer.

You better be coming back.I snapped at the guys.

“You think they will come back?”

“Of course,” I said, hoping I wasn’t wrong.

“I really fucked up, ruined our last moments together,” she sighed, adjusting herself in my arms so the side of her head rested against my shoulder.

“No, they will come around,” I said, praying to the Goddess they did come back.

“Thank you,” she whispered. “I know I’ve put you in a horrible position and that was unfair to you. I… I’m so sorry.”

“Don’t. I told you that you knew best, and I get that you wanted to protect them. You made the right call,” I said, leaning my head on hers.

“Zev?” She pulled away looking up at me.

“Yes?” I looked down at her.

She cupped my cheek, licking her lips, glancing down at my own.

“I… I love you.” She frowned, looking lost for a moment. “I know we haven’t always seen eye to eye. We’ve argued more than I’d like to admit and honestly, I've wanted to throw you off a cliff a time or two.”

I chuckled.

“The feelings were mutual. But fighting with you was always the highlight of my day. You kept me on my toes and made me so hard,” I said, nipping at her nose. “You aren't like any woman I have ever met, you healed a part of me that was barely holding on and I will never be able to repay you for that. You healed our pack relationship that was barely holding on. You gave each ofus moments we would never have had; you led Aeon and Lucien back to each other. I owe you everything…”

I stared at her violet eyes thinking I owed her everything, and so much more. I owed her my…

“Kit Kat.” Lucien's voice interrupted my thoughts.

“Lucien,” she cried out, leaving my arms, jumping into his.

“Baby,” he cried, circling his arms around her. “I was upset and…”

“No, I shouldn’t have thought it was a good idea,” she said, before pulling him in for a kiss. “I’m so sorry.”

“I love you so fucking much, Katarina,” Lucien said, in between kisses. “I will miss you every fucking day for the rest of my life, counting down the days I get to feel you again.”

They rested their foreheads together, tears streaming down their faces.

“I love you too, for loving me, for making me feel like nothing was wrong with me and helping me kick-start this spell.” She wiped her face. “You made me feel loved, even when I felt like I didn’t deserve it.”

“You deserve all the love in the world.” He tucked her hair behind her ear, placing a chaste kiss on her lips. “Thank you for giving me the sun, the moon and the stars, even if only for a moment.”

“Lucien,” she cried, pulling him in for one more hug.
