“I’ll stop by Ford’s to say goodnight,” Emery hums in my ear.

“You can just call.”

“No. I will kiss you goodnight.” He’s emphatic. “I learned my lesson.”

“I’d love that.”

Emery leaves with a fist bump to Ash, who then walks over to me.

“I’ll see you at the apartment later, too.” He kisses my cheek and winks at Ford before he leaves.

With his office made of glass, Ford doesn’t kiss him. Yet, his fiery eyes on Ash feel like an earthquake erupted.

When everyone is gone, Ford peers down at me, his face deadly serious.

Hands on my shoulders, he says, “Bernadette, I have something to tell you.”

THIRTY-ONE

FORD

“Come sit,” I say gently, lowering Bernadette down into the chair across from my desk.

I’d love nothing more than to bury my face between her legs, but right now, I have to be serious.

And honest. Considering we all just came clean about what we want, she needs to know more.

“You’re scaring me.” Her cautious tone wrecks me.

I lean forward, not caring who sees me, and brush my mouth against her lips.

“There’s nothing to ever be afraid of again. I get what you said about this being too soon, but I’m too old to play games and second-guess my feelings. I want you. And I want Ash. I wantus.”

“And Emery?”

“If you want him to be part of this, yes. If Ash and I expect you to share us, then we accept sharing you with him.”

“But that’s not what you had intended when you originally wanted a woman to join you and Ash to—”

“We didn’t count onyou.” I rest a tattooed finger on her lips. “How much we wantedyou. Or that you’d be so open and not shy away from how you feel about a third man. I find that fucking sexy as hell.”

“Did you think you would find what you wanted at an auction?”

I bark a laugh.

“I found you right here, sugar. I felt something foryou the moment I saw you, I just didn’t trust myself. I was raw. Broken. You brought me...” I swallow hard. “You brought Ash and me back together. That brought me back to life and allowed me to finish what he and I started. Finding you.”

She breathes heavily taking in my words.

“And you’re sure you don’t wantjustAsh?”

“How can you say that after what we did this morning?” I hate how she doesn’t trust me yet.

“Just making sure. You say losing Ash broke you.”

“I know myself, sugar. I know Ash, too. We both want to love a woman. And you’re that woman, sugar.”

Did I just declare my love for her?
