We both like Levi.

A lot.

Thor and I are extremely close and right, wrong, or indifferent, we’ve always wanted to find a woman that we could share. It’s just the way we are.

As we walk into the living room, everyone else is sitting down except for Levi, who’s pacing behind one of the couches. Bear and Phoenix still stand somewhat behind us, but off to the side a bit.

All eyes are on Levi, as if they can sense she’s close to snapping. You can feel the nervous and angry energy rolling off her. I don’t realize I’ve started to move toward her until Bear’s hand lands on my shoulder, and with a grim look, he shakes his head. Finally, she stops pacing and grips the back of the couch before she looks over at Thor.

“What’s the threat?”

Thor glances at Roy, who nods somberly and goes to the kitchen. When he comes back, he looks almost defeated. In his hands is a box and, after pausing a moment, sits it down on the coffee table. With a heavy sigh, he opens it up.

I inhale sharply.

It’s filled with pictures and on the top of the pile is a note along with pictures of a woman who’s been severely beaten and her throat has been slit.

Levi’s strangled cry has everyone’s heads snapping toward her. She shakes her head and keeps muttering ‘no’ repeatedly as she steps backward until her back hits the wall. Her face is as white as a ghost, and I can see her body trembling from across the room as tears stream down her cheeks.

This is not the same spine of steel woman who stood up to Thor and me earlier. Something traumatic happened to my Spitfire in the past and I plan to keep it from touching her ever again.

“No, this can’t be happening again. It can’t. No, no, no, no.”

She keeps repeating those words as her gaze stays glued to the box, almost as if she’s in a trance or something. Once again, Bear’s hand lands on mine and Thor’s shoulders, his face grim as he looks back at Levi.

“She’s trapped in her memories. I know you want to help her, but if you approach her right now, you’ll likely end up with a knife in your body.”

“It’s a chance I’m willing to take. I’m just going to try to talk to her and see if I can bring her back to us.”

With a last look at Levi, he nods reluctantly at me. Normally, I’d chew his ass out for stopping us. Bear’s a patched member, but he isn’t an officer. However, with him being Levi’s family, I bite my tongue. Plus, this isn’t the right situation to have that kind of a talk.

I slowly step forward and raise my hands. Even though I can tell Thor’s torn and wants to help her, he doesn’t approach. She knows me better out of the two of us. Something that will hopefully change soon.

“Spitfire, it’s me. Dragon. Remember? You gave me the unofficial nickname of ‘muscles’ earlier after you and the twins damn near took my head off. Come back to us, Spitfire.”

She continues to shake her head as she stares at the box, tears still streaming down her cheeks.

“No, no, no, this can’t be happening. Not again.”

“Come back to us, Spitfire. Your family’s all here and we all have your back.”

“No, no, no. I can’t go through that again. I can’t. I’d kill myself before I went through that again. Not again. Not again.”

Her words gut me, and I don’t even recognize the strangled sound that comes out of my mouth. Out of the corner of my eye, Bear and Roy are looking between both Thor and me in confusion, and I bet I wasn’t the only one that made that sound.

“Babe, we’re not going to let them get you. You hear me, Spitfire? Thor and I won’t let that happen. Come back to us, Spitfire.” At that last part, I step into her line of vision. “Come back to us, babe.”

Her gaze snaps to mine and the pain and heartache I see in her eyes almost brings me to my knees.

“Come here, Spitfire. You’re safe here.”

I hold my hand out and after a few moments; I see her walls crumble and she rushes into my arms. She clutches my cut, and I hold her as more tears come. Thor’s instantly at my side and wraps an arm around her as well, so that she’s sandwiched between us. She shifts a bit so that her head is against both of our chests, and we hold her as she clings to us.

Thor’s gaze locks with mine, and I know the rage in his eyes matches my own. We’ll tear down anyone who so much as touches a hair on her head. Levi is ours and we’ll protect her till the end.

Once her tears subside, she pulls back and wipes her face. Thor grabs the nearby box of tissues, and she gives him a weak, watery eyed smile as she takes a few.

When she appears a bit more composed, I take her hand and lead her over to an empty couch. Sitting down, I pull her onto my lap. Thor sits down next to me, picks her legs up and drapes them over his lap.
