Reaper squeezes me tight. “Thanks, Lil’ Bit.”

I look up at him, confused. “For what?”

He grins. “For kicking me in the ass earlier, for getting to know you better, and for listening to me.”

I return his grin. “Anytime, big guy. But if your sister ever reams you out in front of me, I’m warning you ahead of time that I’ll be throwing down. What she’s doing is wrong. She probably knows it too but needs someone to blame. I’m sorry that you’re the one she’s blaming.”

He leans down, kisses my forehead, and releases me. Almost instantly, I’m picked up and Timber sits me down on his lap. A giggle escapes me, but I don’t say anything.

Two hours later, I’m beat. A yawn escapes me, and I feel Timber’s chest shaking against me. I playfully swat his chest. “Oh, shush you. You know I’m still taking those pills Doc gave me and they make me sleepy.”

“Well then, how about we head out? We still need to pack for tomorrow, too.”

I stand and start saying good night to everyone. Devil snags me when we get to the outskirts of the group and gives me a hug.

“Thank you, Mae. I didn’t mean to overhear, but I did. I think what you told him will help. For both topics.”

Tears prick my eyes and I nod. “I hope so, too. And I hope things improve with Julia and Chris, too.”

He nods. “Same. He turns eighteen in the spring, so hopefully that will help things.”

“Fingers crossed,” I reply with a smile, and he lets me go.

As we drive back to the house, I really do hope things improve between Reaper and Julia. It’s not fair to Chris what she’s doing.

“You okay, Sunshine?” Liam asks as he locks the door and resets the code. I shrug as I slip off my shoes.

“Aside from getting to know each other, Reaper also told me about his sister and Chris. I hate what she’s putting him through. It wasn’t Reaper’s fault. He did everything he could to protect Chris.”

Liam scowls. “I hope that when Chris turns eighteen in the spring, he’s able to get a place of his own. I know Reaper has a place he can move into that’s wheelchair accessible if he wants it. I helped him remodel it. He hasn’t put it on the market yet in case Chris wants it.”

My chest warms at them making sure Chris has what he needs, and I’m also happy that Liam helped him with the remodeling.

I walk over to him, wrapping my arms around him and kiss his chest.

Once again, I thank my lucky stars that I made the decision to seek out my dad. Even though I had to go through all that crap with him and with Carter kidnapping and attacking me, I still would have done it again. Because in the end, it brought me Liam.

We pull into the gates at the Forest Creek clubhouse around mid-afternoon and Sasha parks by all the bikes. I tried to ride with Timber, but just after sitting behind him for a few moments, I knew I wouldn’t be able to hold that position for the entire trip. Sasha was already driving back the SUV, so I hopped in with her. Thankfully, Timber promised to take me out for a ride soon.

Levi, Sadie, Nikki, Jordan, and Susie all barrel out the clubhouse doors and I smile. Man, I missed them.

Unbuckling, I don’t even have a chance to open my door. It’s pulled open for me and my smile widens even more.

“Welcome back, girl! We missed you,” Levi says as I gently ease out of my seat.

As soon as both my feet are on the ground, I’m swarmed in a massive hug pile.

“Can you please let my sunshine breathe, ladies and gent,” Timber teases from behind them.

We all chuckle at that and as soon as they all step back some, Timber steps forward. However, before he can get to me, Axe wraps me in a hug as he dances back a few feet outside of Timber’s reach. His antics have several of us laughing and my chest warms at seeing the smile on my dad’s face as he watches all of us.

After a few moments, Timber growls and Axe’s chest shakes with laughter, but he finally lets me go. Instantly swept up into his arms and he leans down, kissing me.

“Hey, I can walk, Timber!”

He winks at me. That combined with his sexy grin has my lady bits tingling. Even though he kept me up for a few hours last night, I already want him again.

“I know you can, Sunshine, but I miss having you in my arms.”
